Hybrid MF A3CR?

I just purchased a new Musical Fidelity A3CR preamp (last one Upscale Audio had) and it has an interesting "look" to it. The gold accents around the volume knob and along the bottom are silver, like the A3.2 preamp. The LED's are red, like the original A3CR, and nothing else is different about it.

Anyone know why the change in late model A3CR's? Newer version or just cosmetic change?

The latest MF models I saw at my local dealer had platinium accents instead of gold.

I think a lot of people thought the gold looked cheesy so MF probably listened to them. I don't mind the gold look, but I like the platinum look better.

The gold accented one has a more "classy" look to me, but I also like rugged look of the new style. I'll post a pic tonight...

This is what the "later version" A3CR looks like (note, no gold accents):

I like the gold look more. Like you said, it looks more classy but hell, all MF gear looks killer. They all look like they could take a trip to hell and back without getting a scratch. Congrats on your new MF! I know the sound is nothing new for you because you sold the other one but it's always fun to have cool toys.

I love the A3CR, thats why I wanted to pick up a new one. I know it's a preamp I'll have for a long, long time.

having owned the MF A3 integrated, I also prefer the gold and did not find it gaudy in the least....and believe me I hate gaud  Maybe I should have said gaudiness ;)

I like my silver too, but I think the silver with red LED's looks kinda dumb, especially with the smaller volume knob. I am happiest with the model I got. But I wouldn't mind the gold :)

The Musical Fidelity stuff is very nice looking equipment, sleek and modern with clean lines for sure. I never heard MF before but I just bet it sounds great!
