That is ridiculous
I heard bad things about this movie. Was it ANY good?If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
I've heard it's quite bisexual. It looks like a ****-fest. I'm not even sure this one is worth a rental.If...

lots of talking and the action scenes are not great neither is the sound quality. If its a free rental then yes worth it but don't buy it.

The Director's Cut version is 15 minutes shorter than the theatrical version you have. The movie fits on one disc with the Director's Cut version. I may get the theatrical version to add to my bad movies collection. -
I was looking forward to seeing this when it was in the theaters but the word of mouth was so bad I never went to see it. I probably won't rent it either!2 Channel:

Yes they did have some awful pretty dudes in Troy but the battle scenes were unreal and at least they were good actors.
The thing that put it over the top for me was Pitt. The way he played that part was great. Also the fighting style they gave him was perfect. When you think of an invicible warrior you dont expect to see some clumsy actor out there flailing away with a sword but rather some badass with fluid and effective movements.
The opening fight scene is one of the alltime greatest. Stabs that dude in the neck and just keeps walking without looking back. Then walks over to the other side and talks ****. It was then I knew this was going to be a great movie.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Mac... you DO realize that you're the only one talking about Troy here, right? ha ha ha I love how you came BACK to continue your rant on how much you love Troy.
Did anyone else notice that he liked the movie Troy? Or what about Brad Pitt in Troy? Man he was great... you know, in Troy. ha ha hahaha...

That scene failed for me? I can see how the director was tryin to first establish Achille's character as the ultimate badass by having him do a quick kill- but for me it seemed like a cheap shot and ended up being anti-climatic because of that.
Much better execution was from the opening scene in Gladiator. Starts out with Maximus as just admiring nature to facing a daunting wild tribal army than to Maximus wailing it out at them!
Or how bout in HERO as Broken Sword's writing stick gets sawed off by an arrow, pissed he grabs an arrow out the air and continues writing! Yes he doesn't fight in that scene but that's what did it for me cause I know he's gonna be a badass later on!

Did anyone really expect anything groundbreaking?
The actual texts of this subject, while typically abbreviated, are available in multiple variations on the internet.
I really like Oliver Stone, but this was a stale effort and a grand attempt to attract an audience. You cannot sum up the life and times of an historical figure in 167 minutes....unless it's via a Hollywood version.
The entire history prior, during and after Alexander is worth reading. Movies about history? LOL
Lou - Why exactly did Alexander "blow". Is this a reference to the movie? or him as an individual?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Eh, the amazing thing to me is that OS took one of the most interesting charactors of all time and made an extremely boring movie that made you pissed that Alexander was born just to have this poor of a movie made about him...There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. The film was a flop because if they wanted to show the history of "Alexander" then it should have been seen on the biography channel. LouMy gear,

Watch this last night, it's an ok flick, not as bad as I was led to believe. It won't be a purchase, but educational nonetheless.
btw, is he bi, historically speaking?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

Yes, as where most men of power at that time. This continued for centuries as women held no power/status so a power hungry man had to be united to other men for status and power. Women were pretty much spat upon and only needed as sacrifieces and breeding. (Ok, maybe not THAT bad but they weren't respected) I hope that makes sense... It was a culture of the powerful, not neccessarily genetics if that all makes sense to you...There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. back in those days, men prefered to make love to other men. It made them feel more manly, so-to-speak. They still loved the sex with the women but with other men gave them the feeling of power. That's just how their society was back then... or so I've read obviously. lolNever kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

Alexander Dir. Cut- I am fascinated with this movie on dvd. It's thunderous and raw and from the heart. It is pretty dense, maybe you have to be ready for it- I think some ppl just don't bother with anything not reducable to a blurb, especially critics. It's a drama and a study of political power as opposed to an action movie. Alexander is an intelligent epic like Lawrence of Arabia and Spartacus but without the classical form- it's all avant garde except in basic story telling aspects. I long ago stopped allowing media and internet pundits who never finished high school to dictate opinions to me. So I have no problem with this film. It's like a bunch of Stone projects either directed or written by him about ambitious, isolated men driven to extremes by inner torments, as if Scarface's Tony Montana, Talk Radio's Barry Champlain, Jim Morrison, Richard Nixon were all compressed into one protagonist. Good stuff.
