I started going to the movies again this summer and I have to say I really enjoy their sound system. It's everything I like in sound, dynamic, big and raw and their subs kick serious ****. Anybody else like the sound?

well.... i guess the theaters where you live are a little differnt then down here in spotsylvania, virginia. All the theaters i have been to suck! Very very bright, way to loud and shrilly. it never seems like everything is balanced the surrounds always seemed like they are really jacked up and the subs... ahh i guess they are good well acutally they are really good but they are not intune with the rest of the setup. I would not be suprised if the theaters around here run the subs at least 12db hot. Not my style.... not my style.

My home theater at home is definalty my first choice for seeing movies, the sq and pq is much much better.

organ, what theater do you frequent now? Reason I say is because Klipsch is slowly but surely taking over JBL in a lot of theaters and it's been for the better. I know all the AMC's in Kansas City have converted to Klipsch and it made a WORLD of difference.
Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

    Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

    Brent,
That's what I was hearing many years back when I used to see movies more often. I was surprised to find the sound less bright and shrill this time. The sub integration is flawless from what I can tell and the surrounds are perfectly balanced with the mains.

    Toxis,
I go to Paramount which is owned by Famous Players. http://www.toronto.com/profile/310204 I think you're right about the Klipsch thing, their surrounds look very much like this one or it could be the model below this http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=506 Not sure if JBL have a similar looking surround speaker. I'll take a better look next time I go back. Whatever it is they have, I love it.

I guess i could give it a try again sometime considering i have been to a movie in a movie theater for about 5 years now. Have they changed that much in that amount of time?

    Danger boy,
I agree, the seats are great. It's fun to go to the movies now. My only beef are people sitting right next to you who can't shut the f*ck up.

    Brent,
You should check it out. I can tell you that in the past five years, the sq is night and day difference. Hopefully, they've upgraded the sound system in your theatre since the last time you visited. I saw War of the Worlds on Sun. Killer sound!

i have the same problem in the theaters here as some of you mentioned. Bright sound, way too bright and Shrill. grates the ears in heavy action sequences. And also I find the people more annoying as well, maybe i'm just getting old and intolerant in my old age

I just saw the island which on DVD might become a demo disk for all the action....from slow motion glass breaking to countless heavy stuff hitting other heavy stuff and explosions....

trying not to give anything away...

but basically sound wasn't bad it was ok in the theater I just know the DVD sound will come out better.

Oh and a guy not only answered his cell phone...but talked on it ....twice....
