Are you serious? Can anyone honestly tell me why this movie was made? I think I had 2 laughs during the whole thing. The "Gun Show" comment was pretty funny, but that's really about it. The rest of the movie was retarded and left me feeling like they were trying to hard to be funny. Sigh... I miss the days of GOOD comedies.

If they would of had two sequences, the beginning and that part - I would of had the same exact thoughts and the only laugh of/in that movie...

    An absolutely horrid movie...

I'm getting tired of these comedies where no one can act, and they are acting like crap on purpose... give me a break...

I equate these movies to the kind where you have a bunch of friends over and you're playing cards in the background and drinking a few beers or other choice beverages.

I think the movie was just fine. Then again...maybe it's because I think Will Farrell is just funny to look at in general and his overal mannerisms make me laugh. This is a sophmoric comedy in the same vein as your Animal House, etc. People who are looking for 'great acting' like this shouldn't be watching these movies because you're going to be disappointed everytime.

I like variety in my movies and this is the one I file in the cheap laughs category and the kind of humor you only use around your buddies. There are all sorts of different comedies.

Same here. First time I saw it, I hated it. To me, it wasn't a good follow-up to Oldchool (Will F). Now that my bro gave me the dvd, I actually thinks its funny.

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diago, which of course in German means a whale's ****.
Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.
Ron: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
Veronica: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?
    Ron: No. No.
Veronica: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.
    Ron: Agree to disagree.
Champ Kind: What in the hell's diversity?
Ron Burgundy: [clears throat] Well, I could be wrong, but I believe uh, diversity is an old wooden ship that was used during the civil war era.

Veronica Corningstone: My God, what is that smell? Oh!
Brian Fantana: That's the smell of desire my lady.
Veronica Corningstone: God no, it smells like, like a used diaper... filled with... Indian food! Oh, excuse me.

I have to agree that you can't go into a movie like this and get upset because the acting is subpar. I mean, it's a Will Ferrell comedy.

I might have to watch it again to see how many parts get funnier... obviously it has a few quotable lines in it. *see everyone above*

Is it just me or does it seem all comedies nowadays are just stupid.

Now there is nothing wrong with being stupid IF youre being funny too. A perfect example: Caddyshack is probably the funniest movies ever. Caddyshack 2 is just stupid.

I agree Anchorman was a stupid comedy, but I like stupid comedies. So many good lines in Anchorman. I guess you just have to suspend disbelief a little higher for these ones.

    "I stabbed a man with a Trident"
"I saw that, you might want to lay low for awhile, Brick"

    "I'm having a pants party"
"Brick, are you trying to tell me there's a party in your pants?"

Steve Carell was awesome in this movie.

    "I'm Ron Burgundy?"
"Damn it, how many times do I have to say it, Burgundy will read whatever he sees on the Teleprompter"

The scenes with Fred Willard improvising on the phone with his son's principal were great.

PS. Excuse the possible misquotations, I was doing it on the fly.

Bill Simmons, aka "The Sports Guy" on ESPN, just did an article about this movie, using quotes to describe NBA offseason moves. I don't particularly care about the NBA, or even know much of what he's talking about regarding the NBA, and I STILL found the article hilarious thanks to its use of Anchorman quotes.
