Outlaw 1070 or Denon 3805

I am thinking about a new receiver. I'm looking for good multi-channel music and decent HT. Which would you select, the Outlaw 1070 or Denon 3805? I have a Denon 3910 DVD so with the Denon I could use the DL3 link for SACD and DVD-A. However, I hear the DACs in the 3805 are not as good as the DACs on the 3910 so maybe I will be better off going with the Outlaw and using the multi-channel inputs. I would use a NAD C270 to drive my fronts(RTi150s) with the Outlaw 1070. I have a separate rig for 2 channel.

I'm a denon guy who has no experience with the Outlaw piece. Wish I had a direct experience. I guarantee you'll love the 3805 seeing you'd be using Denon Link. I've also heard the same thing about the DAC's in the 3910 being better than in the 3805, but correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Denon Link basically analog outputs via a single cable? I was not under the impression it was TRUE digital but only multichannel. I might have to investigate further.

I believe the Denon link keeps it in the digital realm. From some documentation on the net...

"Denon Link 3 will enable full-spec digital transmission of all sources, from CD and DVD-Video to the multi-channel signals of Super Audio CD. The performance of a Denon DVD player and an AV surround amp can be fully realised by simply connecting a dedicated Denon Link cable, allowing users to enjoy optimum sound quality of digital program sources. "

Also, I may want to look at the Denon 3806 which will be announced at CEDIA this Sept. http://www.avland.co.uk/denon/avr3806/avr-3806.htm

looks like a nice receiver but here's a few problems I see with it.

    1. HDMI switching is a good thing but why not upconvert all the way to HDMI instead of just to Component? I'd like to run a Comp Vid in from say PS2 (Cable box and DVD probably will already have HDMI by then) and have it output via HDMI.

    2. No Preamp Outputs??? Please tell me they didn't get rid of the preouts for the HDMI switching... *sigh*

I just assumed it did since the 3805 has pre-outs. I'm quessing there is but I can't find a rear picture that shows them. If not, I'm leaning back towards the Outlaw.

The Outlaw will have much more power. (Current wise)

Outlaw's, all of them, are power houses.

I think you are correct that the 3910's DAC is better than the one in the 3805. I would try going analog and digital to see which is better, but I suspect the $1500 player will sound very good.
The 3806 should have HDMI switching and upconversion to HDMI, as the 4806 does. All inputs can be upconverted to the HDMI output on the 4806. As far as the 3806 not having preouts, that makes no sense at all. It absolutely will.

Gregure... that site even says upconversion only to comp and the list on the bottom does NOT say it has 7.1 preouts.

My mistake on the HDMI upconversion, guess they didn't give it the full 4806 treatment. However, there is no way they would eliminate a feature such as preouts on an upgraded unit. The 3805 has them, so will the 3806. The chart clearly states the details are tentative.
