So I was browsing through ebay looking through some Audi's and I come across this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-AUDI-RS6-HIGH-PERFORMANCE-2003-Audi-RS6_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6055QQitemZ4565847208QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
naturally I am suspicious as there wasn't a starting price around 50K. Then I read down and it says 25K BIN....now I am really frothing. So I email the seller, after trying to call their number listed on their website, which by the way is a fax number. Ask them for a number to speak to someone regarding this. And this is what I get, a reply back saying:

I'll keep an eye on this until auction end to Kick myself if this is real. I am suspicious though as the seller has zero feedback...They could of easily sold it out of the LA times for 35K for a quick sale. I havent' seen any go for anything less than 47K. And that one had over 40K miles on it.
-
Blue Book retail is $64K with that mileage, and their "Customer Department" doesn't know the value of the vehicle, and they've got no feedback on Ebay? Scam. It's approaching the three year old mark too. Who would buy a car like that and drive it 3000 miles per year? I don't think I would have wanted to carry $25K cash to a deal like that without an armed escort.

Oh, I get it now. The scam is probably to get the immediate $500 "deposit" from someone, then disappear. By the way, the 2003 RS6 wasn't available with a tan interior as the seller claims, and the color of the interior in the pictures isn't tan, it's what they called silver. Nice pictures of a dream car though.

RUN...RUN FAST.....RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS .....

I'm a used car manager, and if that car is worth $65k-70k in Indiana, then it's worth $3k-5k more in Cali.
Be thankful that you didn't fall for it .
Just checked Kelly Blue Book for retail value in Indaina and it's over $77k, though KBB is always very optimistic by about 3-5% on their retail values. NADA is what all the banks and CUs use in the eastern part of the US. Out west KBB is used."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
CAUSE I SPEAK OF THE POMPITIOUS OF LOVE" -
Naturally, when I asked them to provide me with an address to view the car, I didn't get anything back from them..

I had similar thoughts on my last vehicle. Bought on Ebay. 20K miles, 2 years old, KBB was $32K, had been wrecked but state certified rebuilt. $11K sale price.
6 years later, no problems other than a water pump, battery and heater core. Now at 99.5K miles, still running strong and looks great. Saw one a few months ago on a lot selling for $14K.
Used some of the "saved money" to buy my turntable setup.

Hey, if it is a kit with instructions it is no big deal. I took three days off from work to do mine.
Day one: Start at 7 AM. By 10 AM I had most of the engine accessories off. By 11 AM I had about 6 beers down. By 2 PM all was apart.
Day two: Start 9 AM. Read manual, put everything together in my mind. 10 AM to 11 AM drink enough beer to gain enough strength to start installation. Done by 3 PM. By this time I was in no condition to drive.
Day three: Check over everything. Test drive. All works!
I think I spent more time drinking than turning wrenches. Hey, it was a fun time! It works OK and drives well but really needs some computer tuning and larger exhaust to be all it could be. I really wish I had replaced the V6 with a V8 instead of the supercharger. I just don't really like the whole belt situation with it. Below is a pic of the engine.Vinyl, the final frontier...

I put some heat on the seller yet again on the RS6, and instead of replying back to me the seller de-listed the car........
MM - Nice job on the motor. You aren't the first to say that they would of rather went with more cubes than forced induction. -
that's a forkin huge blower, jeez... and now you'll really notice the effects of a larger intake and exhaust...
nicely done, thoughIt's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon
