I bid on an HK 230 refurb from harmanaudio and won. The final price was $182.50...isn't bad because I had a max bid of $205 on it...
comes with the manufacturer warranty, etc....
Now I finally have a receiver with pre-outs

Great deal. I've just missed twice for the last 2 235s. Went too high, but I'll catch one yet.

yeah..the 235's are going for around $260-290. I figured I would go for the 230 just because it's cheaper.
I just wanted a receiver w/ pre-outs and bass management but didn't want to spend a lot, so the 230 for $182 w/ 2yr warranty and 30 day return/refund policy was a great deal for me...money saved now means more money for amps laterReceiver: harmankardon AVR235

Great deal. If the 230 is anything like the 330 and 430, you're in for a treat. I wish I had known that the 230 had preouts before I bought my 330 earlier this year. I could have saved a little bit money. I've got the 430 now, though, and I have no complaints. I downloaded the software upgrade for it, which is supposed to add Pro Logic IIx, and decrease the DD and DTS pick up time, so watching dvd's should be more seamless during layer changes.

That was what was keeping me away from the 0 numbers, lack of PLIIx. So you are able to flash firmware updates through the R232 port? Only the 430 and up have them right?

Yep, updates are done through the R232 port and the 4xx and up have the R232 port.
HK offers the update(s) for free, either by download or CD by snailmail.Receiver: harmankardon AVR235

Just stayed in til the end on a 630. Let it go at $525. Didn't really want to spend that much, but it looked too tempting sitting at $460 for most of the day. WAF will be happy.

Mike,
Did you just buy another 235? I was going to bid at $232 with 3 minutes left, when I got a phone call. Got off the phone and I missed it by 30 seconds.
Punked...

Holy crap! Yeah that was me. I was showing my wife how to bid on something and I put $239 on that 235. I was sure I wasn't the highest bidder because they have been going for around $265-295. Then I found out I was the highest bidder and that I won this thing.....at $237.....
Needless to say, no more ebay for awhile as the wife was not happy....Lesson learned: never show someone how to bid on a live auctionReceiver: harmankardon AVR235

ront9787 - I don't bid until the very end and I didn't on this one, but I was going to... Seriously, my wife and I are in disagreement on this hobby, as well. I'll get the next one for $220 watch...
You got another great deal, don't worry about it. Keep whichever one you want and put the other back on the bay. You'll at least break even.
