Center for older Monitors
I'm using Monitor 7Cs for mains, 5jr+ for surrounds, and up until last weekend, I was using Frankencenter for my center - the components from an RTA8 built right into the TV cart. Worked perfect - SL2000s all across the front.
We were given an entertainment center which we're now using for the HT gear. Looks nice, works fine - but I lost my center. I *could* rebuild the center into this new unit (or in its own box), but I want to look into buying a center first. The Polk site recommends the CS245i for the old Monitor series.
My question is: based on your experience (especially if you have SL2000s in your mains), what center do YOU think matches best (or at least matches well) with the older Monitors?
Is the CS245i a good speaker? What is a good price, used?

Can't help you on the CS245I, but that Frankencenter tv cart thing sounds intersting. I was thinking of doing the same thing for with a tv stand in my basement. I was going to use monitor 10 parts and have the PR fire down.
Got any pics? I would love to see what it looks like. Maybe get some ideas. -

If the link works, this thread has pics of Frankencenter. The pics show the black replacement SL2000. I subsequently purchased actual SL2000s and one of those is what is in there now.
Shielding was a problem. I attached the bucking magnets to the drivers; tilted the baffle back a few degrees; and raised the TV a couple of inches. All those combined and I had not problems with interference. I later learned that if I moved the TV forward on the cart, I didn't have to raise it up.
I have all the components to make a pair of RTA8s... but I just don't need another pair of speakers so I'm not motivated to make the boxes.
Let me know if you have any construction/design questions.
Oh, I made the sub in the pic also.
