Let's keep the Flea Market a great place to shop, ok? Lately there's been some "hijinks" going on with people neglecting to point out certain things. Not disclosing is no different from lying, period. Save that crap for Ebay.

Potential buyers should not have to play "20 questions" to get at the truth about something. That's just wrong.

Hey, we all make mistakes. Sometimes details get by us, understandable; I'm talking about blatant misleading tactics. Let's clean it up, I personally will not hesitate to bust somebody's balls publicly if they are playing the "well, you didn't ask me about that" game.

NO names, please, but what happened that got you so upset? So far, fingers and toes crossed, I've had nothing but great deals and that's been with several different people on about 10 deals.

I understand, didn't want names anyway. Just wanted to know what wasn't disclosed so I know what to look and ask for in the future:) .

That's my point bud, you shouldn't have to in the Polk Flea Market.

This rant is based on 2 "sales" lately, niether involved me. One had to do with the over rating of an items condition (few weeks back), the buyer was quite upset with the seller's interpretation of "excellent" condition. The other with use of a borrowed pic thats was not mentioned until someone asked the question directly because the same photo had been spotted on Ebay.

It's one thing to use a "brochure photo" everybody knows a brochure photo when they see it; it's quite another to use someones "in-house" photo and make no mention up-front that it's not actually the equipment being sold---that's an Ebay tactic.

The seller could say "this isn't mine, but this is what it looks like" or something similar, you know, a heads up. That's cool, that's being up-front. Some people don't have digital camera's--I understand--BUT DISCLOSE it.

There's an old saying that goes:

"If you have nothing to hide, then hide nothing..." True stuff.

I know it may not be necessary, but I always thought some rules or at least basic guidelines regarding the fleam market and how to conduct business here would be helpful

Oh yeah, I knew about the first one. I must not have seen anything about the second one. Since I have to describe cars and trucks to wholesalers over the phone, when I get buy bids on trade-ins, I'm fully aware of being up front when decribing things that big money is being spent on. I do the same even if it's for a $20 item. It's just common courtesy.

I agree, alot of things need to change and we cant always think everyones on the up and up.. even if most are.. sales pulled after the deal is done, no commucation, all things we get pissed at if its e-bay sellers... lets all respect each other and get this together... :)

I personally have been very very impressed with the flea market here and I totally agree with full disclosure. When everyone gives full disclosure it helps with both selling the item because the buyer knows the full extent of the item and its condition as well as it keeps us from loosing friends and making enemies. I have only made a couple deals here but it's really nice to be able to feel confidence in trusting someone with your gear and money.

I'm a believer in "all is well that ends well." If I'm the seller and somebody runs a little short on funds, no biggie, we work it out. I don't think any of us make a living selling stuff here, though I realize that sometimes new purchases are contingent on existing sales--and that can upset a seller sometimes.

On more than one occasion, I've had CP members send me gear, knowing full well that it could be up to a month before payment... hell, I still owe Russ for the Luxman receiver in my office rig (to be fair, he hasn't told me a price yet ;))

I have every confidence in deals through the Flea Market, except with new sellers. Yes, we all have to start somewhere, but if the seller/buyer is a newb, take a few extra precautions, is all... I got my Monitor 10's from a member who only came on to sell his Monitor 10's. Deal went through just fine (although "local" pickup w/ an audition before payment), and the seller disappeared. I got a pair of great speakers for a good price. Sounds good to me!
    Ludicrous gibs!

I strongly feel personal integrity should not be bound by affiliation to a particular site or venue. Flexible integrity and variable ethics will catch up to a person eventually.
