Well my internet went out at my house for the entire night last night! I did not know what to do with myself, i could not get on club polk... :(
Well anyway that led me to do somehting i had not done in probably about a month. I sat down threw my system in 2-channel mode and listened to music.

I was looking for stuff that i either have not played in a long time or had never played, that is how i came across this CD. The Peter, Paul & Mary Ten Years Together Greatest Hits CD. Well all i can say is WOW! That was such an enjoyable cd to listen to. Besides the extremely high noise floor this is an incredible recording. You can definatly hear the influence of the tube equipment that was used in the mixing studio. The whole cd is so extremely warm with a very natural feel to it. The voices were just so incredibly lifelike with a soothing warm timbre. The imaging was really fun as well. Having three singers they would normally always have each singer in a different location. One left, one right and one dead center (wich i got perfect imaging for with my 55i's). They were always good about placing different instruments across the whole stage as well. It really gave me the sense of a group on stage being able to pinpoint where all the singers and instruments were.

Just some of the highlights; The very first song on the cd really gives you a glimpse of what the whle thing is like. It starts with an incredible sounding acoustic guitar stage right with Peter singing stage left. It then goes into the chorus and Paul joins him on the right and Mary dead center. Track two brings in some additional instruments from the acoustic guitar and each one shines with sound quality and realism. But still nothing can beat the drums on track 7. it is always hard to get lifelike percussion on a normal redbook cd but this cd definatly sounds more like a perfectly setup turntable than a cd.

If you have never listened to this cd before i urge you to do so. It is a rather short cd maybe only 30-40min and you will enjoy every minute of it. Plus you will already know most of the songs, I know i did.

Maybe my internet will still be out at my house when i get home tonight so i can listen to some more great music....;)

It's a great cd. I've had it for years. My favorite song on it is: In The Early Morning Rain.

The harmonies & the guitars are just great, and when the bass kicks in things get kicked up another notch!

I could not agree with you more, there voices harmonizing together is really what makes this such a fun cd to listen to....... granted the incredible sq definalty helps out in that department.

Normally this is not the type of music that you would think one would turn up really loud but to be played more at a mellow volume but there is just something about this cd that makes me want to crank it and get lost in it. Simply outstanding. I think i am going to listen to the whole cd again tonight, even if i have internet.
