I got an e-mail and a message in my ebay box after I bid on an hk avr330. I didn't win the bid, but Harmanaudio is offering it to me as a second chance for $285 + shipping.....
I have until tomorrow to respond...i'm thinking this is a good deal. However, I've been looking at the current xx5 series and I'm thinking of holding out for one of those.....but a 330 at $285 is tempting...
Would you guys grab it?
Mike

Besides a few fairly useless processing modes, the biggest difference I've noticed on the new models is the ability to handle enough bandwidth through component to handle switching of HD signals. Then again, for what you're saving on this vs. a 335, you could buy a stand-alone component switcher and still come out quite a bit on top, I would think.Dodd Audio ELP [ Tubes ] // Harman Kardon AVR330 // Parasound HCA-1203A // Denon DVD-2900

Is there going to be a big (audible) difference between the 330's processor and the new xx5 32bit processor??
Also is Dolby IIx worth it on the new line??
Thanks

That's exactly how I feel...I was suprised when I got the second chance message from harmanaudio because I think the winning bid was about $300....and mine was $285...I guess the winning bidder backed out and I was the next in line....
also the 330 is going for $366 on the harmanaudio website.
I have until 7:00 pm edt tonight to decide.....Receiver: harmankardon AVR235

Seeing that you'll be getting a warranty with it, I believe it's a good deal. I actually like the refurbs, not just because of the price or warranty, but because they have been gone through several times and any inferior parts that need replacing or upgrading get done. On some occasions, they're better than new."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Man, that is a good price. A REALLY good price. The one I bought was $400 at CC open box. I almost would have killed to get one at $285.

I never use the Dolby Prologic modes anyway, unless I have no choice due to watching a 2.0 movie. H/K's own Logic 7 processor seems to me by far the best multi-channel DSP around. From what I've heard even the IIx isn't as goodDodd Audio ELP [ Tubes ] // Harman Kardon AVR330 // Parasound HCA-1203A // Denon DVD-2900

with all due respect to Lomic I disagree. Logic7 as good as it is- spreads bass lower than 80hz to all the speakers- thus decreasing the subwoofer output- but that's with my setup. To his setup and your setup it may be differerent. I think DPLIIX is superior for basically any kind of playback- be it Dolby 5.1, Dolby 2.0 or even piggybacking a DTS source. Now for actual Lexicon pre-amps (where LOGIC 7 was originally designed for) it may be different. Try experimenting.
