Hello to everyone, it has been a while since I have posted. THis is my current set up (all Polk speakers):

RTI 70 (2 main front speakers)
CSI 40 (center channel)
FXI 30 (Dipole/Bipole surround, mounted on 36 inch Sanus speaker stands)
PSW 650 subwoofer
ONKYO TRX 600 (80 full bandwith watts x 6)
All monster cable connections
system is currently set up in a norma size bedroom

The problem that I see, is that the system does not play loud enough. I turn the volume to 60, in order to get decent volume (without distorsion, and I have the speaker calibration half way up). The center channel speaker sounds low. The sound is not very crisp or bright. The system is also lacking some midrange sound. I like my music loud, crisp, bright, and clear. For the money that was spent, I think that it should sound much better. I listen to music and watch movies about equally. My current setup just does not fill the room with sound and does not get me in the middle of the action when watching movies.

Do I have the wrong speakers or is this receiver to cheap and underpowered for the speakers? I am thinking about upgrading to a Denon 3805. Will I notice a big difference in sound quality and loudness, or do I need to get different speakers?

Your speakers are fine. Your receiver just doesn't have enough juice to run all of them at the same time well. If your receiver has pre-outs get a 2-5 channel amplifier to power your speakers to take the load off of your receiver.

Or you can get a more powerful receiver. Just make sure it has pre-outs so that if you want more power for your speakers you can get separate amplifiers

What do you all think about the Dennon 3805 (120 W x 7). I was told that the sound quality is outstanding with this receiver. I want to upgrade the receiver for now. I want to get one with a good solid foundation and then get an amplifier if needed.

That Denon will surely be better than the Onk. Just make sure it has preamp outs so that you can upgrade later. I believe that Denon does have the preouts.

The Denon 3805 will be great. You might find that it's more than enough to handle everything. And if it's not, it's got pre-outs!

By the way, I also have two RTI 38's that I will be using once I get a new 7.1 receiver.
