Three places for front speakers which is best?
I am building a new home and have three places for front H/T
speakers.
1. LS bookshelves six feet apart right by the TV in a cabinet.
2. LC80i in ceiling or LC265i in ceiling.
3. LC265i 10 feet above floor but any distance apart.
I realize none of these is ideal. Which is best?

For the front speakers, option 1 is by far the least of 3 evils. (it may not even be that bad) At least you can move the speakers to a more ideal location if you want to do some more critical listening.
MichaelMains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
I gotta agree. Inwalls or inceilings and you are stuck with that. Makes it much harder to upgrade and tinker. Both of which you will want to do at some point.

1. The rest are far from ideal but the first one is at least do-able. I hate having the fronts in ceiling because seriously, you want the sound coming AT you. Same situation with putting inwalls 10ft up. You might not have them real far apart, but my fronts are maybe 7ft apart (8 tops) and it's not to bad. From my listening position, it works great for music as well. I'm happy.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.
Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.
Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener. -
Thanks for the help fronts now decided.

Problem is there is a fireplace to the left of the TV not a open space. Do you think these Polk bookshelves will work in an enclosed cabinet.

How deep inside the cabinet and how close to the side walls? Does the shelf they would sit on extend to the front of your cabinet?
I agree that number one is your best choice. I have in-walls mounted slightly higher than ideal height and it works OK, but I would not want them any higher.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 *
