ive have a 60'' lcd projection sony($3999 from a local electronics store ) ,which is in the shop now because of some dark spot that have recently came up on it but, any way i also have a 27'' flat screen emerson($179 from wal- mart) in my home office, and the picture on the emerson is clearer and more detailed than the sony. i have ajusted both tv's by the avia dvd and the emerson is still clearer. ive heard that the smaller the tv the better the picture but come on shouldn't tv cost nearly $4k have a better picture than a $179 wal-mart special , whats the deal?

The deal is, old fashioned CRT TV's have the best quality picture. All the other technologies are fighting for 2nd place.

Yeah, basically. But it also depends on your input signal. If you put HD or a good progressive scan dvd player on your LCD and your old tube still looks better, you've got issues with the LCD. But if you just have basic cable, dear god yeah the tube will smoke it. Microdisplays... much like plasmas, all hype and no performance.

it's true.. despite their hefty weight... CRT TV's still rule for best overall picture quality. in both color, resoultion, blacks, whites, contrast.. etc.

plus tubes last nearly forever. only two drawbacks to tube tv's. 1. weight, 2 limited picture screen size. otherwise... they're a great investment.. the least expensive of all type of displays and they look better than all the rest. I've never seen a RPTV look as good as a tube tv.
