power conditioner or voltage regulator?

I have an apc line regulator now (line-r 1250). Thinking about going to a monster hts 5100 (can get it used on ebay for half the msrp). From what I can tell the latter will filter out and clean the dirty power and the former just regulates the minor spikes.
When the vacuum or dishwasher... is turned on the lights will dim for a second but that's about it. Happens maybe once a week if that.... Never had a power surge, so not worried about that, just sags every so often as stated above.
Bottom line, what is going to prolong my components life (home theatre system..) the conditioner or the regulator?

The best idea is to get the outlets responsible for the dishwasher and/or vaccuum onto another breaker....or your stereo onto another breaker. I would worry about the line conditioner or regulator some other time.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Unfortunately it's not my house, so I have no say in any possible modifications

Oh, well that certainly complicates things.
A power conditioner wouldn't change the effect, but a voltage stabilizer certainly would, by definition at least.
You could save some money by going with Panamax in lieu of Monster Cable.

+1 on Panamax. I had a Monster HTS2500 that seriously reduced the "impact" of my power amp; my $189 panamax does not do this.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Source: Rotel CD14MkII CD Player - Speakers: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Thanks for the feedback. Any recomends on a model # for the panamax? Also specs I should look for in one of these units to fits my needs (or shoud I list off all or most important components I own)? At first glance looks like there are quite a few models under the home theatre section. Too bad you actually have to click on each one to get a price...
Then I can go on ebay and see if I can get a higher model for the same price or less

The MAX 5510-Pro looks like the entry level AC regenerator, pretty nice, but I personally don't know much about it. As far as what you need, email Panamax with your system configuration, as they would be best to recommend something of this nature.
If I had experience with the actual unit, I would comment, but I don't. I know only what I read and hear on the grapes concerning these pieces.
Panamax is my choice when I move forward in HT security. Monster Cable is not something I wish to own any longer.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Ouch, I have to spend $1500 for an entry level. My entire home theatre system (tv, dvd, vcr, computer and monitor, ps2 and modchip, a/v receiver, sub, speakers, cables...) only retailed for around $2500 when I bought them each of the components.
After looking at just the pricing, I'd prob be looking at the 5300 or less (assuming I have to pay retail and go through a panamax dealer). I was looking at spending max $350 incl shipping...and since I am in Canada, that's $450 in cdn dollars. -
I have the Panamax 4310, and for around $200 from an authorized dealer or $149 from an ebay dealer (check to see if they are authorized or not, I am not passing judgement on this) it is a very good power conditioner and surge protector. I'll have to look at the manual because I am not sure how much real voltage regulation it does. I also have a Tripp Lite LCR-2400, which you can find from authorized dealers for $245 to $335. It does a very nice job of power conditioning, surge protection, and voltage regulation. I live in an apt. with old electrical system and too many outlets on a single circuit. My window AC runs on the same 20 amp circuit I have the LCR-2400 and my HT system on, and I have no hum, no buzz, no static, and stable voltage even with the AC kicking in and out.DKG999

Tripplite is another solid name, as they have been around for a couple decades.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I think I am going to probably go with the panamax 5100 from
http://www.powersystemsdirect.com/. I can get the device for $330 with $20 shipping (not free because I am in Canada) or $370 with a free rca cd/radio piece of crap
They are even an authorized dealer, so 3 year warranty... wooo
thanks for all the help guys (hopefully my subwoofer will stop buzzing now, and maybe even my tv
