Halo 2 (again)

Hey I have been giving Halo 2 a solid workout over the past few days. I rediscovered my love and loath for the game.
Love...while playing alone with no one on you friends list, match making can be a blast.
Loath....despite the new Bungie update I still see some cheating, I see people killing themselves all the time if they don't get on their friends team so their friends team can win. I see people losing on purpose to lower their ranking so they can kill the "easy people". (Which I always end up on their team, so I end up losing a lot) I see "Super Bouncing" so the entire team can get onto a location that is unreacable for the people that have no clue how to bouce. I still hear people using the "N" word every other word.
As you can see the loath far out weighs the love. We have literally played match-making for over 30 hours on Saturday and Sunday. I was ranked as high as 16. But as soon as I got past a rank of ten, I started to see people that were killing themselves, and team killing (following you and shooting you to drop you into the red, not quite killing you....then have their friends on the other team finish you off), and just a whole entire group of ****.
Basically Bungie needs moderators. They literally need to hire people to game. And when they encounter these people that like to eff with people's gaming experience then they take their gamertag, ban them for one day, with a message from Bungie saying to straighten up or don't play. That is the only way we can get rid of these guys.
So for all the rant...I will still be on a lot this week. If any of you want to give me an invite feel free.

although cheating still is a mojr issue u have to give bunjie props on the if u get cought your kicked off forever attitude. its too bad they dont come out with an update for halo for live. if they did i would garuntee waste countless hours and days sitting infront of my tv. boy i can see it now, everything would be right in the world if halo was on live! either way im interested in live play, my name is coltrizzzle, ill lookout for u...
i challenge u to a duel, lol -
No offense...
But Halo would be FAR worse than Halo 2. It was on the market what? 2 or so more years before Halo 2. If it was on Live that entire time - imagine how many hacks it would have. - And I highly doubt they would of come out with an update to put it on live. That would just hurt Halo 2.
People suck, especially lil 10 year old punks that think they are bad behind a controller.
I've never played XBox Live with Halo 2 - but after all the stories I've heard - I dont think I want to be honest...
My friends have grown tired of the game, personally I still like going through the campaign. My friend and I (one thats never played Halo before) were playing the campaign to Halo 2 the other day for 4 or so hours at a party we were DJing (made it so much better..lol). I think Halo 2's campaign starts to really fail those last 4 levels when the Convenent are fighting each other while the flood are fighting them at the same time. I mean WHO thought of this BS? No one wants to walk through 4 levels... yuck. Not to mention if you fight the guys - its nearly impossible for you to win.
But Halo 2, the first 10 levels are absolutely bad ****$. I believe near the last level where you start out as the Arbiter on a cliff is a fun level, it is a bit more tactical than the other levels. Not to mention you get to hook up with the big guys - name slips my mind now... haha
Anyways, I'm getting off track - I just like the Halo series, both Halo 1 and 2 envelope you into a world like no other game I've played.
But if I had to deal with XBox live and all of its BS, I would probally hate the game too...
PS: What are the Halo 2 updates to the campaign??? Supposely it adds to the campaign or something. We all bought the Multiplayer pack, the new levels are to big for 4 players - but perfect for 16...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
think about this sid, lets say halo 1 was online. ovcourse there are going to be horror stories, just like with every game... 2 years ago bunjie sets into motion the same no hacking or your kicked off policy for halo. then halo 2 would be perfect. obviously people would still try to cheat and we all hate those idiots who cant enjoy and play the way it should be, but this would discourage many gamers and eliminate others. all games have flaws.
about halo being worse than 2, im not so sure. maybe its just my love and the worm comfertining feeling i have with halo concidering ive played that game more hours in that past few years than all my studying from highschool and college combined . in my opinion there where very little graphical improovments and the story line for 1 was more exciting (again maybee becuase it was so new and radical). grant it i love duel yeild weapons, but i have not found it to be a big advantage concidering my lover for the the shotgun and sniper rifle. many of the new maps in 2 are fun, but most are just updated versions of maps in 1 (the biggest let down for me personaly).
i feel like im ranting and raving so i will controll myslef now. both games are great but 2 didnt have enough of the WOW factor to keep me fully engulfed in the game. -
Well, of course it wont be new. Sadly it was a sequal - but we have to remember Halo 2 is not competeing with Halo 1. Halo 2 is just an extention of 1.
To me, Halo 2 had a different kind of a story that was hard to get involved in. Mainly because it *really* in a way did NOT involve Humans or the master chief.
It involved the Convenant, which is why we have the Arbiter brought in. Halo 2, seems to be alot about the workings of the Convenant and the downfall and rise of the Brutes. There isnt alot that concerns the humans, except trying to kill the prophits, freeing Earth from attack, finding Marines to free and finding the Key with the help of the Arbiter. The entire story is about the Convenant. I mean at this point, The humans are just in a SOL situation, they are just trying to survive.
I personally loved this aspect, mainly because of the last few levels - although I didnt nessicarially like it.
It kind of left up a door way for the Elites & Humans to pair up in Halo 3 to take on Brutes and what not. And at this point, I dont see why we need the Flood anymore?? lol...
Halo 2 just had a different type of story for Halo 1. I need to play Halo 1 again as I have forgotten alot of the story...
EDIT: I like Halo 1 as much as I do Halo 2. FWIW- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Personally I dont care for playing online. Single player is fine for me.
I like Halo 2 better than 1 for 2 reasons.
1- You can have 2 guns at the same time!
2- The soundtrack. It is freaking awesome and adds a superb ambience to the game. I even downloaded some of the songs off the soundtrack that Im listening to right now as a matte of fact.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Sid - a couple of the levels from the multiplayer pack are great for 4 players... Backwash and Relic. I definitely wouldn't want any more people playing on those levels. Try doing Backwash with no radar... lots of surprise kills.
And has anyone else noticed the multiplayer pack gives the shotgun a range like a sniper rifle?? (not really, just exaggerating). Its amazing how the physics have changed in the past two updates.Brian Knauss

Yeah there was one with like 4 mounts and a round area with a halway type deal...
Dont remember the name, I was owning on that one. I beat my friends like 25 to 7...
What were the campaign updates?
Mac, that soundtrack is AWESOME. The added guitar in the opening theme of Halo is SUPERB. It sound amazing. The soundtrack has excellent SQ. I also like the Breaking Benjamin song.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
either way, both great games with amazing relplay value. well worth the 50 bucks.

Exactly!
However I'd like to see the health bar return to Halo 3...
And not to mention get rid of that POS auto aim...wtf..- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
agreed, i hate the recharable health. i miss scouting out health packs. knoledge of the board seemed more important in halo than 2. do uo know anythign about 3????
-
Well, from what rumors I have "heard"
Its going to be mostly on Earth (and not just Halo 2 on Earth) and it will be a huge war, hopefully like it was on Halo 2 - just larger scaler... with both sides of the convenent and flood fighting. Like a WWIII type deal. And hopefully they will make it where there is actual sides instead of everyone vs. everyone...
In other words, I honeslty have no clue. I would just expect a large scale war on Earth that takes full advantage of the XBox 360's power.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
now that will be exciting. 360 is going to be soooooo amazing!
what time is it? game time! -
No reason to let this killer thread die now is there?
I was playing Halo 1 yesterday. I was on the level where you first go on Halo and you are trying to open the door. Now, why on Halo 2 did they get rid of you facing the big guys who I cant even remember this name. The guys with the gun built into their arm. Yeah, thats it... - in this level, I had to face SIX, yeah thats right - SIX of those giants. Takes skill to kill them darned things! I finally figured out that a pistol (alien) can kill them pretty good, anyone know a better weapon? I'm sure a sniper would do wonders too...
I would have to say that Halo 1 is alot harder than Halo 2. I have played both games on hard now and I basically walked allllll over Halo 2. In Halo 1 I have died a number of times - mostly due to the marines or alien grenades - since when it is turned on hard the friends and foes gain the ability to throw grenades. Jackasses. Atleast throw them where I'm not standing...
Thats another thing... when you are operating a gigantic turret, it should be in the AI of the marines to stand the eff away from the gun barrel. Is this not one of the first things you would program into them as far as a battle tatic? lol...
But the whole game seems more difficult, especially killing the Elites - I swear - either the gun is weaker in Halo 1 or the Elites are alot stronger.
Also, why did they amp down the sound effects? IE: When you shoot an Elite machine gun - in Halo 1 your entire room is falling in from the impact the sub gives 60 times a minute... Then you turn on Halo 2 and its like a fish farting 60 times a minute!
I like both games alot - but it seems they toned down Halo 2 alot. Both games are really fun though.
I need to finish Halo 1 again as I don't remember alot of the story...
When I get the 360 - I will have to play them yet again.
PS: Bungie might be announcing its next game in a few weeks. Will it be Halo 3? Something tells me Halo 3's launch in June is just a scare tatic - I don't think Halo 3 has been made to the point of releasing it that soon.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Halo 1 was definitely harder (campaign). Halo 2 (campaign) just becomes boring after a while and you feel like putting the controller down.
"OK, I'll shoot at these guys for a little bit, they'll hit me... I'll run behind something to recharge... repeat shooting and hiding!" It get's really tedious and boring.
But, like I think I've said before, multiplayer is a lot better on Halo2.
Bring on Halo 3!Brian Knauss

Yeah I definetely agree. Well - kind of. I really enjoyed the Earth levels (Correction, the Earth Levels kicked serious alien ****$...period and end - The Earth levels just ROCKED your socks off!) and when we were introduced to the Brutes and all that. However, those last few levels in the game when its everyone against everyone - it wouldnt be so bad if you could ACTUALLY fight. Because you cant, way to many people to actually win at all. It just becomes a mission to get over with the game then enjoy it.
However, there are times in Halo 1 where I want to go pick up a second gun - especially against the guys with the gun built into their arm (NAME SLIPS< DANGIT!!) - as killing them with one gun is quite a chore...
I think they just really washed down Halo 2's campaign in comparison and there isnt any real middle ground between easy and hard. Not to mention dropping the health bar was such a bad idea - in Halo 1 once the shield goes down, you still have a chance... in Halo 2 that thing goes down...your just effed. I dunno - I didnt really see it as an advancement considering the shield recharges in Halo 1 as well... ??
I have pretty high expectations of Halo 3. Especially if it is the last game of the series (which I doubt). But I will be very dissapointed if it is anything like those last few levels of everyone against everyone... ugh- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
glad to see your love for halo is still blosiming! i went to play it last night after reading this thread becuase iwanted to hear the sound difference and DAM. what a crazy difference. that alone almost makes me not want to play 2 anymore...
-
Make sure you compare the Ghosts from Halo 1 and 2...
In Halo 1 - shooting the ghost with a powerful sub will almost make your neighbors walls collaspe.. Not even close to that in Halo 2... very washed out in comparison...
Halo 1 was so beefed up in sound... I tell you what.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
i just started playing halo again and dam is it sweet. although i feel the graphics lack a little compared to the halo2 the sound is amazing! damnation and chill out are the greatest thing to ever happen to video games/
btw is anyone else having trouble downloading the updates for halo2? i cant seem to download the new maps so i can play on live, kinda disapointing... -
No problems here
