From IMDB.com:

Producers of Natalie Portman's forthcoming film V For Vendetta have refused to edit out scenes of bombings on the London Underground train network, despite the recent terrorist attacks in the British capital. Fifty-five people were killed and over 700 injured when a double-decker bus and three trains were blown apart by suicide bombers on July 7. Last week, one person was injured during four failed terror attacks on different underground railway lines and a bus in east London. In V For Vendetta, a futuristic London is the target of a terrorist attacks and sees the tube lines destroyed by bombings. Executive producer Joel Silver says, "It's a great time for this movie. It's a controversial film and it's a controversial time. It's going to make people think." Fellow producer David Lloyd adds, "In terms of what happened in London it's important to try and understand what leads people to terrorism. There should be lots of movies made about terrorists." Director James McTiegue explains, "Terrorism is one of those themes that never really goes away."

Now, I don't mind the fact that they're keeping this in the movie. It's ballsy considering what happened over there, but still ok. What gets me is what Joel Silver says. "It's a great time for this movie..."

That pissed me off. This isn't a "great time" for anyone or anything, least of all a **** movie. 55 people were killed last week with hundreds more injured, and Silver has the balls to proclaim that this is a "great time for the movie". What a piece of ****. And to top it off, the producer states that there should be more movies about terrorism. "Terrorism is one of those themes that never really goes away?" WTF? We've already got TERRORISTS to remind us that terrorism isn't going away. I think for the time being, we can do without filmmakers reminding us about it too.

    *sigh*

People just really have to run their mouths sometimes? I agree totally, them leaving the scene in is sketchy, but somewhat acceptable. I can understand him saying that.

I think he should reissue that statement to all the victims, and we'll see what really comes out of that moron's mouth...

I think all terrorism movies should include torture of the terrorists, by some secret underground agency, using pork and fecal matter to get the names of the other terrorist in the group.

All terrorist should be burned to death in a pit of pig fat.

I was trying to leave London Thursday afternoon shortly after the confirmed news of the new round of bombings hit our office there. The look on people's faces that I saw as we walked down the street to meet our car service to Heathrow said it all. I know the law enforcement agencies over there are suffering from the possible killing of the guy that may not have been involved. However, he was wearing a padded coat in warm weather and ran into the train after they commanded him to stop. I would of shot him too! The punishment for a terrorist should be to be chained to a stake in the middle of a lot full of hungry pigs.

I don't feel the director should take the scenes out.

terrorists can't fight a fair fight so they hurt innocent civilians in an effort to try to disrupt everyone's lives. i say screw 'em, fight them the best we can and live our lives like we want. the last thing we should do is give in to their threats and "modify" our lives to give them the satisfaction of having *any* power over us.

I can't say for sure, but I think his comments shouldn't be taken as him trying to capitalize on these events. He's trying to raise awareness and generate discussion on ways to defeat terrorism. He's saying we shouldn't just pretend its not happening, but discuss it openly and deal with it.

Instead of the word "great" he probably should have said "appropriate" or something of that nature.

People are murdered everyday and there are movies made about murder just as often. Should those directors be criticisized as trying to capitolize on people's murder? Should they have to wait until there is no murder in the world for a month before they release the movie?

If you censor this movie/director you are sliding down a very slippery slope, better get ready to do *alot* of editing and censoring.

I personally would like to see a lot of true to life terrorist movies. It may be enlightening. It's hard to fight something you don't understand.
