Hi, I'm Cooter VonPimplenuts from South Africa, nice to meet you Deepak Nair (of the India Nair's).

Listen to both, pick the one you like. Don't forget to include the cost of stands into the rti4's for comparisons sake.

Hello Deepak, welcome to Club Polk.

While the first part of Russ's statement was unnecessarily sarcastic, the last part was correct. If you can listen to both pairs of speakers, you will be able to tell which one you like the best.

However, it is usually the concensus, that the RTI line of speakers is better than the Monitor line.

Let us know what you decide to get.

I am currently using 2 r20s wired in series as a center channel because I like the way they sound and I compared them to the r 50s with the 20s on stands and I felt that the 50s have nice bass but the 20s bass was a bit tighter.

Make sure to find the wall stud before you try to wall mount these speakers. I have one for my rear surround channel, and it has a pretty good weight to it.

I mounted a pair of RT35i with nothing more than a drywall anchor. No issues what so ever.

    Russ...

    That was effing priceless.

My rear RTi4 is anchored in sheetrock only as well, I just don't want to be the one that gives advice that could possibly damage someones new speakers. ;)

    Don't worry about it.

I user RTi4's for my rear and side surrounds. Came home one day and one was laying on the floor, it fell about 6 feet and the cabinet survied. When I picked it up I could hear parts moving around inside the cabinet. When the speaker had hit the floor, the cabinet didnt bust but it seperated the magnets from my speakers. If you put them on a wall be sure to anchor very well or you'll be picking yours up listening for strange noises too.

These B-Tech BT77 brackets from Crutchfield were recommended to me for my LSi7's. They work really well, and will hold up to about 50 pounds. (They use 4 screws)

The sound is much better than when the speakers were just mounted to the wall with the built in bracket/mounting plate.

Well if that is the case, once he mounts these he should not have a problem with them falling. I am afraid of mine falling, so I periodically check the wall anchor to make sure it still is embedded into the sheetrock deep enough. So far so good.

Thank you for the link Michael. I will order those brackets when I do my HT with Monitor30's.

As for the original question. Like everyone said, demo both models and pick the one you like most. Meke sure you demo both models on the same equipment.
