I am saving my money to put a projector in our new house.
After seeing my friend's 800x600 native Infocus X1 and how good it looked I knew I had to get one. He is using it on a 92 inch screen. I do notice the rainbow effect with that one so that is why I wanted to get a faster color wheel on whichever one I get.
I want to stay with DLP due to their great black levels. I would like to get one with 1280x720 resolutions also. You guys know more than me. What would you get with my budget?
*edit* Im really liking the NEC HT1100 but bulbs are 430 bucks!

I have run the X1 for over 2 years and still enjoy it. If I was to upgrade it would be to Screenplay's 4805. It is basically the 16:9, 4X colour wheel version of the X1.
Resolution isn't as high as you are looking for, but I have found resolution isn't the deciding factor for me as HD on an X1 is so good that most viewers don't know it isn't doing the full number of lines. The X1 proved that 800X600 done right could be better than some of the earlier HD models.

head over to avsforum. they've got a new forum for folks selling projectors. You should be able to pick up a hd2 1280x720 projector for about 2g's.
