Now that Ive decided on the speakers (RTi4/CSi3/R15) Im now looking in to replacing my 27" Sony.

Now this thing has an excellent picture and is plenty big for 4:3 pictures but 16:9 is just too small.

I would really like to have a flat panel due to the lighter weight and prefer a LCD because I play a lot of video games and am dont want to have to worry about burn in. Still, that $2000+ price tag is staggering for a 32" TV.

Magnavox makes one for $1500 that appears to have a good picture but Id really love to have on of those Sharp Aquos sets.

    1. 4 speakers? Are you reviving Quadraphonic? :p
    2. Don't go LCD unless you're limited on space. Go tube and get a real picture. Please... Not only will you have a MUUUUUCH better picture, but you'll have more money to upgrade your fronts to 6's, or get a better sub.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

Its only 4 speakers for now. First will be a set of RTi4's, then a CSi3 then some R15's in back.

Actually Im not really looking at a LCD due to the price but the light weight of a flat panel is very appealing, especially when Ill be the one having to carry it up these steps, then back down again when we move! :(

I would more than likely go with a 35" CRT. Best Buy has a Toshiba 35" for $600 but I bet that things weighs over 200 pounds!! Hell my 27" weighs in at 105!

Mac, get a 34" widescreen HD tube. You'll save some $$$ and have the best picture available, with no issues with the video games you love so much. I have a 30" HD WS tube and the picture is to die for. Sure I wish they'd make a 40-42 inch tube but a 34" is still nice. Someone makes a 38" WS HD tube.....RCA maybe???

And yes I know that there's no issues with LCD and Video games.

Sony, Tosh, And Philips all make a nice tv in the 34" WS HD category. It will just come down to $$$ and needed features. From my experience with the three, you'll pay extra for it to say Sony. The Sony is very nice, but not 25% nicer, imo. I own a Philips and have had it for three years with nary a glitch.

My issue with Sony is that worthless Scan Velocity Modulation. When watching VHS tapes it pixelates the picture bad. You can defeat it but it entails pulling the back of the TV off and snipping the VR OUT wire.

When you factor in they cose $200-500 more than a Toshiba, Ill stick to Toshiba if I can.

Actually nowadays I think all the major brands put out a good TV. Sharp, JVC, Tosh, Phillips, Sanyo and Magnvox are all good. RCA and Zenith suck tho!

A 34" widescreen TV is about the perfect size but the price difference between a 30 and a 34 is about $600! I can get a 30" for $600-800 and the cheapest 34" Ive seen is $1000!

No problem, there are other manufacturers in that size point, like Samsung, RCA, Sanyo, etc... Alot of them now have the HD tuners already built in, which will also save $$$. I'm just waiting for someone to trim them up and add a few more inches before the Philips moves to the living room or bedroom.
