DS-2 Subwoofer Help

I have a DS-2 home theater system and am generally pleased. Polk speakers are excellent, BUT the polk receiver is sub-par at best. I would like to use another receiver ( A DENON), but polk makes this difficult by using the strangest of cables to connect the receiver to the powered sub. Do I just have to suck it up and buy a new sub? Or is there another solution?
