Suggested Surround Speakers.....

Putting together a HT system and have all components except the surround speakers. I am leaning toward the FXi3 using the "dipole" sound pattern - installed on the side of the room.

My question is, having the following RM7302(center), RM7300(left-right) is the FXi3 a good match? I truly believe after reading about Bi-Pole/Di-Pole this "type" of speaker would be the "best" for my application.

Finally, if I decide to install a 6.1 or 7.1 setup, what are people's opinion on a rear speaker choice? Could I just get away with 6.1 or would I be missing out not having that last speaker in the 7.1 set-up?

I appreciate any information and thank you sincerely for all the information I have gathered so far from this forum!

not sure on how rm's would match up with fxi3's. Aren't RTI's/FXi's nicer speakers than RM's?

If you have a 5.1 setup- I recommend Dipoles on the sides.

If you have a 7.1 setup- I recommend Bipoles on the sides AND rears.

Thanks for the response. I bought the RM7300 & RM7302 for the mere fact I was looking for a wall mounted speaker. I was sold on their sound, price point and well - they are going to look sweet nestled next to the 50" WEGA. I would have stuck with the RM series surrounds but Polk does not offer any with the bipole/dipole design. Now with that said, if i decide to build out a 6.1 or 7.1 could I perhaps use the FXi3/5 with the dipole setting for the side surrounds and use the RM6901 for the rear surrounds? - Marty

absolutely. if you're system is based on movies only i recommend dipole side and bipole/monopole rear.

But I still recommend Bipoles all the way around if your system is music/movies.
