Someone threw out a 42" NEC plasma where I work.
I plugged it in and it turns on but there is no picture, I was wondering if this is a common problem and if possible would it be worth it to fix?
can anyone out there offer any advice?

    1. put it back where you found it.
    or
    2. call local repair shop to see how much it'd cost for new electronics.

I vote #1. Even if it wasn't much to get it fixed, it's still a junk commercial plasma.

Go to the gas station and add some more gas to it. Obviously all the plasma gas is gone.

Maybe try all the different inputs? It is possible just one doesn't work. Check the price of repair.

I work in a residential building, so it was in someones apartment, very wealthy people live in that building so for them theyd rather get a new tv. I just plugged it in and no picture, I didnt have it hooked up to anything but I figured when you press the menu button the menu would come up even with no incoming signal, but alas nothing...I thought Maybe I could use it in my bedroom, but if its too expensive Ill just throw it out

if it has no picture and turns off by itself... the on/off problem could just be a relay switch.. might be inexpenisve replacement part.

as for no picture.. that would require more investigation. but worth getting it checked out I would think. i wouldn't invest a whole lot of money though.
