We are just comparing the past line to current one. Nothing wrong with that.

And I don't see how I am acting like an audio snob.

::Edit:: I went through and read this thread again. I made two post that were slightly off base, and one I even threw in a smiley for the sensitive. ;)

And I admit my last post was kind of bad... :( I'm sorry.

You must admit, this thread screamed my name as soon as it was made. " Bring back the BLUE woofers for RTI's!" - definetely called my name.

    Maurice,
The line before yours had a similar veneer to yours, but it had more of a grain and neat lil white marks through out - looked very good.

The one before it I believe was when the RT3000p existed, which had a Rosewood finish. Very purdy. They also use to offer a Maple finish.

It seems that most manufacturers only offer black and cherry though. I havn't really figured it out.

Onix offers a Rosewood finish on their Rocket line - VERY gorgeous speakers. Almost makes you drool.

    speakers_4_5.jpg

Maybe we should get current RTi drivers, crossovers with the older RTi style ;)

Not exactly. They just seem to offer quite a selection of good products. Not to mention sexy ones...haha.

(Its nice -not- to be a slave to Polk in other words. There are so many good brands out there. Just breathing Polk products all the time would get tiresome.)

The Rockets look awesome. I only have the intentions of getting a CDP from them. ;)

    Onix References look nice too.

I don't find the rosewood finish all that appealing on the rockets. The rosewood and the grain looks too exotic in my opinion, now their other finish, african macassar ebony is something I find appealing.

I own quit a bit of the RTXXi line of speakers. RT2000i, Rt55i, CS400i, RT800i, RT35i, and RT25i. I did have the RT1000i's for a bit till I traded em in for the RT2000i's. I have too say- I was really dissapointed in the direction the RT line of speakers has gone. My dad has a pair of RTi8's wich are ok...but I dont like them any where as much as my RT800i's. Too me, the newer polks feal cheap and kinda sound that way. Unfortunatly for me- if I ever decide to get new speakers....I will either hunt down some RTxxi lines or a different brand.

I do love the ones I currently own though!

The RTi4 has an all-new 1" tweeter with a doped-silk dome that features a heatsink on its neodymium magnet for improved heat dissipation and power handling. Paul DiComo claims that, compared to the tweeters on the RT25i and RT28i, the RTi4's should produce a flatter, more extended frequency response. The RTi4's 5¼" mid/woofer driver, also all-new, is designed for smoother frequency response. There are ports on both the front and rear panels; the rear port has a flared end and a diffusor to minimize port noise. The enclosure of ¾" MDF has 10% more volume than the RT28i and 23% more than the RT25i.

In my opinion the new rti's sound better and are built better and look better than the old rti's. That baffle on the older series was simply ugly. I have owned the rti 25, 38, and 55 and this is my frame of reference. The new tweeter to my ears is smoother and has more detail than the tri-lam or the first silk in the rti-38. The new tweeter in the rti's now is outsourced to vifa where as the others were built by Polk.

    There ya' go.

yup. I notice all the people saying the older rt's are better are all comparing towers. Maybe that's true, maybe it's not- idk. But I've heard the 25's, 35's, 28's and rti4 and 6. Polk has defintely made a better bookshelf (IMO) with the newer models.

I had the 800i, 400i, the 55 which I converted to 55i and a 400 and none of them with blue drivers. There was not a substantial difference between the upgrade and none of them had blue woofers. The 55 verse the i was a bit less bright and stressfull. All in all a great line which I still have much respect for.

Yes, I have noticed that to some extent. If the bookshelfs are better than the towers should be as well. My whole point earlier was that the rti's and lsi's are voiced differently and in certain situations the rti's would be better. This IS possible and I do believe that power helps a speaker reach it's potential. I went from a denon dra-685 receiver to a nad c272 and a passive pre and it made the rti-10's "come to life".

agreed. while i have no opinions on the Onix personally i think it's high time for a thread to bite the dust when audio equipment is considered 'sexy'.

simply sod off and read something else.
How dare I speak against someone with 9660 posts, easy, when someone is a fool you call them one.

Listen crackpot, you came at me first. What, 13 or 14 other members in this thread didn't seem to think I went after them, or for that matter even give a rats **** what I said. You made the first personal volley. I never said anything directed at you.

    Who's the fool now?

And the post count thing? You're the only one that brought that up. If you want to start playing the 'what have you done for the forum lately' card, we can.

Stick around for a few years, buy, sell, and swap gear - help people out, ask questions, answer questions, make some friends, laugh, cry, get pissed off - and you too might have a high post count one day (since that seems to be a HUGE issue to you).

Keep practicing, it's the only way to get to Carnegie Hall.

    XOXOXOX,
    Russ

Look russman, I am here to contribute if I can and to learn above all else. I am not here to trade personal insults with you or anyone else, I get nothing out of it.
I felt your sanctimonious attitude of saying
"the post is ****" was a swipe at me since I was contributing to the post. Let's be honest, your approach was flawed at best and ignorant and foolish at worst. Who said what first, who cares, let's let it end... That is my best olive branch.

unbridled_id - It wasn't a swipe at you directly, or at least that's how I read the comment. I know him very well, so perhaps I am biased. It seems more like a rag on Trey and/or Aaharvel, who both seem to have taken it in full stride....no issues. Trey knows Russ like a "family" member, and Aaharvel is starting to figure out who is friend or foe, or neither. ;)

Lighten up, noone is trying to flame you. If you stay here long enough, you'll really know who you can hate....and then it gets really good :D

There are more than a few of us who have bent over backwards for this forum, and Russman is one of them.
