I am considering buying either a used or new Marantz SR6200 amp. I Googled for reviews and consumer info and found a lot of mixed results. Some loved the amp and had no problem. Other had problems with popping and clipping. Specs look pretty good, both come with a warranty. I want to use the amp in both 2 channel and 6.1 surround mode. Does anybody have experience with this amp they would like to share?

Maybe you've got a recommendation or another HT amp for sale. I'm new to the Forum and just getty started in rebuilding an old antequated system. Your feedback is appreciated.

I just sold my Sr7200. It was a great receiver. I powered an Rti HT with it and never had any problems. It was refurbished so I didn't have any of the popping and clicking some complained about. I think Marantz makes very respectable receivers.

Did you ever operate in the 2 channel mode? Did you notice an increase of power in the 2 channel mode? The spec describe the unit as having six discrete 110 watt smplifiers. So I didn't see how the 2 channel mode could put put morepower like some other amps. The price for the new unit is $400, with warranty from my local independent dealer. What do you think of the price?

I have quite a bit of Marantz gear.. amps, CDP, receiver.. and never had any problem with them.

How old is the amp you are considering? Amps for the most part last years.. so that is interesting that it has received mixed reviews.
