Can anyone explain the difference between a sub with a single voice coil and one with dual vc's? My current polk dx12 has a single voice coil i believe. Will upgrading to a dual voice coil sub greatly improve the sound quality?

A DVC sub simply allows more wiring options, so you can get more power out of your amp, if both are capable of handling the power. The same sub, in DVC or SVC will not sound different.

Most sub amps are Class D mono amps that can run at 2 ohms mono. You cant get a 2 ohm mono load out of a normal SVC sub so manufacturers came out with the DVC model. Like SP said, it gives you more flexibility in wiring and thats it. No difference in SQ.
