We traded a pair of rt25i's and was eager to demo them against bookshelf speakers in there price class.B&W makes a cute little bookshelf called the Lm1,it is a versitle little speaker as you can place it just about anywhere with it's cool mounting bracket. They sound real good for a 300.00 speaker.I figured great matchup for the rt25i.I took both speaker's in one of our demo room's that has the B&K avr307, and the Pioneer Elite dvr7000 DVD Player/recorder.This DVD player sounds good playing cd's.I droped in Train "Drop's of Jupiter cd and away I went.I played the rt25i's first as I wanted to know what they could do with a great receiver,I also had Transparent music wave speaker wire and The link interconnect for audio. The little rt25i's sounded 1,000 times better then they do at CC,they sounded punchy for a little speaker.Image was pretty good as well.Low bass was deep for such a little speaker, the sound comming out of them was pleasing.I didn't think the B&W had a chance.I never ran the B&W Lm1's off the B&K as it's well out of it's class, but I didn't want sources and Amp's to interfear with my test.I hooked up the B&w lm1's on the same wire and sat them on the same stands. They beltedout awesome bass,I couldn't believe it,I never ran them In full range before as they as alwys set to small everytime I install them with the rest of the theater package. The Image was effortless as it sounded very natural and clean, aga in for such a cheap little speaker.I was starting to like them over the Polk's.I wasn't real happy about that as I thought they would get there face kicked in against the Polk's.I hooked up the Polk's again and man what a drop off, they sounded muddy like to much bass was forced out of the little speaker's.Image now sounded forced and stressed.I wasn't happy with them against the B&W's.They lost this battle and went down hard.
I hope we trade more Polk's soon so I can test the rest of the line against what we carry in the same price class.I also hope this isn't what is in store for Polk, Im now tempted to bring in my rt35i's and my rt1000p's and run them against speaker's in there price class.I'm also nervus about doing that as I think they might get killed.
Comparing Polk's to CC other lines is no compare ,but when you but Polk into it's own class with speaker's that are made well, then I think it's going to be another story. If and when I do these tests I will post my results here.
Sorry guy's(owner's of rt25i's)

The little LM1 vs the RT25i. I personally would prefer the 25, and I have a housefull of B&W. I think the little LM sounds borderline harsh, with little useable response under 100Hz or so. I think the DM303 would be a better matchup for the 25, but hey, thats just how I hear it.

The LM1's definatley have a 'cool' factor going for the them, with the versatile design, and numerous color options, but I was not taken in by the sound. $300 and B&W, I think the 303 is a much more musical, well rounded speaker.

    Interesting read, thanks.
