We have a MMC2104 sub, dual voice coil and an MTX 8302 amp and are trying to wire this up, need some quick help.

The amp we'll be using in bridged mode, so do we wire the sub in series or in paralell, or something else?

by the way, this is the 10" DVC momo sub....think that amp with 300 bridged power will be enough?

With that sub, you can either get a 2 ohm mono (wired in parallel) or 8 ohm mono (wired in series) load. I dont think that MTX 2 channel is stable down to 2 ohms mono so you wont be able to use it.

For that amp youd need the MM2104 with singe voice coil.

    The power is perfect.

so does that mean we can't use this sub with that amp? Can we use this sub with this amp if we wire it in series?

Yes but youll only get about 150 watts out of it.

If you wired it at a 2 ohm mono load the amp may work at first but once you put any kind of load on it, it would likely give up the ghost.

You could wire it in stereo but youre back to about 150 watts again.

If you cant exchange the sub for a SVC model, youre just going to have to get another amp and since that is a DVC sub, youll need a Class D mono amp to work best. Something like this Rockford Fosgate would be perfect.

where are you getting 150 watts from - is that about what this amp will ut out into an 8 ohm bridged channel?

    Rough estimate.

If that amp puts out 300 watts at 4 ohms mono, then at 8 ohms mono it would make 150 watts. 8 ohms would be twice the resistance of a 4 ohm load and so half the power.

Again, Im just throwing rough guesstimations out. It may be more or less but either way, an 8 ohm load wouldnt be much.

That would be the best way to go.

That amp would be a perfect match for that sub so it would be a shame not to use it and swapping out the DVC for a SVC model is a pretty simple solution. ;)

Well, we were able to change it for the single voice coil, so everything worked out good.

We got it all hooked up and everything works and sounds great, just a bit of tweaking left to do...

    Thanks for the help

Glad ya got it worked out.

Start a tweakin' and dont forget about the break in time so take it easy with the volume for a little bit. Itll sound better with time.
