marantz record player

i have been given an old marantz 6025 record player- is this worth using? it needs a new needle, but otherwise appears to be fully functional.

    Any old Marantz is worth using.
    With the exception of McIntosh they still have the best looking gear regardless of age- and if all it needs is a new needle, then what are you waiting for? :)

    get a needle and enjoy. Even if you dont' like it, I'm sure you can sell it for the price you paid for the needle.

    If it has a 30 year old cartridge in it, splurge about $60 on Shure MX-97xE. You won't regret the choice.

    Still have my original 6350Q turntable with a Shure V-15 Type III cartridge - purchased new in 1978 and still going strong! Enjoy the Marantz! :)

    If the drive belt on that sucker has never been replaced, you definitely want to get one of those. The old ones will turn into a black, sludge-like affair which will be a **** to clean off the platter, pulleys and shaft.

    +1 on the Shure cartridge....I still have a 10 year old V-15R-III and it still sound great. Though the last 4-5 years it's gotten hardly any playing time.
