I've got a GNX104 (single v/c 10") sub hooked up to an alpine MRP M350 1-ch/200 w RMS 4 ohm amp. The sub is okay, but leaves a lot to be desired at higher volumes. Would substituting a momo 10" enable me to play a bit louder w/out disortion? I'm mainly interested in SQ. I don't really play all that loud -- moderate-to-high volume is where my existing sub starts to distort. Also, would momo single or dual voice be a better choice? The alpine puts out around 350 w rms into 2 ohms.

I had the same sub you do a few months ago & switched it out for a Eclipse 8112svc & its MUCH better. I paid $139 brand new I believe on ebay since they are the model previous to the one thats out.

yes, moving up to a momo will provide better sq at a higher maximum volume - significantly so, i believe, since you're moving from a gnx.
vc's - since you're running a single sub, you'll want the DVC; you'll wire the coils in parallel to get a 2-ohm load. note, however, that 350 is over the momo's powerhandling by a decent amount. momos HATE overpowering, so you'll have to be careful to set the gain properly. do that, and i think you'll be quite happy.

Thanks for the advice. I may want to try the MOMO sub (w/proper gain adjustment), but would be interested in any suggestions you might have for a non-Polk spkr. I'd be looking to keep the price below $150. Also, I'd like to try to keep my existing enclosure -- .65 -- if possible.Pioneer 880PRS

I have a Sound Splinter sub in my car right now. Might be something you want to look in to. I am very happy with how it sounds. The amp that you are runnig would make a nice combo with this sub. My Kicker amplifier is putting out around 360 watts RMS to it.
It is a little more that the $150 you want to spend, but for $169 you get a lot of speaker for the money.

How about the JL 10w3v2? Looks like it would be a good match for my amp in terms of power. Is anyone familiar with its performance?Pioneer 880PRS
