A little confused about sub box plans from the Polk site

I have a friend who saw the 3 chamber bandpass box from the Polk Audio site for the MM2124. Only thing is that he wants to use a set of Kicker Comp VR's in it which I don't really mind. I'd hate to see him waste decent subs on a bandpass box.

Anyhoo, he wants to build this box so we will build this box. The question I have is concerning the vents. It lists a DV = 4.00 inches and an LV = 9.00 inches. LV is the length of the ports for this box and DV is the diameter, correct?

Beyond that, it looks pretty straight forward.

One thing I noticed though is that the sub box plans on the Polk Audio site do not have dimensions of teh panles needed to create teh box. It's be helpful to kno where teh internal baffles should be so I don't have to screw around with a ton of math.

I'm not sure what you are asking.

If you are considering the ported/sealed aspect, Kicker says the Comp VRs are suitable for any box type. They are 10 inch speakers though, not 12 inch but the 10 in Comp VR's use the same space as the 12 inch Polks. They like big boxes....and they cannot lie! Sorry, couldn't help myself on that one!

jesus, dude, i post on this forum at work! :D

jstas - since bandpass boxes are tuned for a specific combination of t/s parameters, i was just wondering if you'd made sure the new ts specs would still fit the bill, since, as i'm sure you know, tiny variations here and there can add up to a crappy sounding box.

They are Comp VRs. They are probably only a step or two above Pyle. C'mon! All he wants it to do is make noise and that is what it will do.

Besides, it's difficult to narrown down the parameters because Kicker gives a range of values instead of exact numbers.

I'm sure it will work out fine. He's not looking for super high quality sound he just wants that impact a bandpass will give when he turns up the volume.
