Trying to get rid of some of my excess audio STUFF...

Up for sale today is a Pioneer SX-450 receiver, rated 15 WPC into 4 channels (two stereo outputs). Has basic inputs for Tape/Phono/Aux. Somewhere in the mid to late 1970's, i believe this one is. Pictures are forthcoming, probably tonight.

This piece has a few problems, but is very useable. Here are the problems-

1. When you turn it on, you do get some thump. The power switch is a rotary dial that has the speaker selection positions in this order- A; off (for headphones; B; A+B. What I did when using this receiver is put my speakers on "B", then simply turn it on and I got no thumb because "A" was first :).

2. When initially switched on, the front panel lights flicker and you get buzzing out of any actively switched on speakers, for a random amount of time. I never have figured this one out... don't know why it happens... Has done it since I've owned it. Again, my fix was to have the speakers on "B", turn the dial to where the channels are off, until the front panel lights stopped flickering. Then turn the "B" channels on and enjoy :).

3. The balance knob is, well... unbalanced. It's biased towards the right channel and I don't know how to fix that. When I obtained this receiver, all the pots were scratchy, so I cleaned them all out with ratshack electronics cleaner. This helped IMMENSELY with the scratchiness...

4. Theres something odd with the speaker selection/power knob. Occasionally the right channel will cut in and out, but wiggling the knob brings it back for a while. Probably needs a more thorough cleaning.

I've always enjoyed the sound of this receiver. It's very warm, and surprisingly well-powered for being only 15WPC. This comes from a time when watts were REAL WATTS :). Here's some basic specs thanks to Classicaudio.com-

Classic Audio lists these as being worth $37/$67. I'll sell this for $20, you pay shipping.
Ludicrous gibs!
