The speaker cabinet has white and black wire leads.
the new silk dome tweets have a plain spade terminal and one colored red.
Just verifying that the white wire goes on the red spade.
black wire onto plain spade.
btw, what are those crazy fasteners holding the tweeters into the cabinet? Luckily I have a screw driver that works and does not strip them.

No, that's incorrect. Polk has a backwards way of wiring speakers. Black is positive (goes to the red terminal), white is negative.Political Correctness'.........defined

one speaker done, one to go then get to try them out. -
can't get the tweeters out in the right speaker with my oddball screwdriver.
is the tool I need called a torx?

Right, black or blue are positive. White or green are negative. Which screws are you removing? You should be removing the four screws at the far corners, not the ones closest to the actual dome.Political Correctness'.........defined

they are not normal philips head screws, nor are they hex shaped. -

what tool is used to remove the screws on those SL2000's? When I go to Home Depot. i want to make sure i get the right one..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

IIRC, there are two sizes of square drive screw heads so measure them before you go to buy. i checked the other drivers and they all have this odd fastener securing them. Wish they were normal screws like everyone else uses. I tried 2 sizes of philips but ng and don't want to strip these things.
the tweeters i removed were original I'm certain, and dated 1992 on back with QC cert. -

Look, this isn't that complicated. The screw holes strip easily, so someone at some point replaced the original screws with what you have now, probably a size or two larger than original. Polk never used a screw like you're describing. Take one of them to a hardware store tomorrow, match it up with the right tool and be done with it.
BTW, the SDA 1's were made from '82 to '83, the 1A's from '83 to '86, so obviously the tweeters have been replaced.Political Correctness'.........defined

all the fasteners have this square head design. It seems odd that someone before me would replace all the drivers and then put in these square drive screws. I know its not complicated but unusual to say the least.
I have replaced woofs and tweets in other brands before and have never seen this screw.
The speakers were bought second hand and seller just knew they were his relative's and he was an "audio nut."
from seaching other threads I think I have the sda-1c studio.
Sometimes I read something that refutes this, such as the "1c did not have the spade/ spade interconnect"
My right speaker is s/n 5142 ; the left has no id label.
They are black, but do not have the top cap which other's photos of1c's show.

Well... someone is wrong, there were some 1Cs made with the blade\blade connections. Fact not fiction.
