I was wondering if anyone here does this and where you get your materials from? Is it as simple as soldering it to the wires to the connectors??

Yes and no. It can be easy depending on how well you want it to look and what kind of connectors you get. -

a lot of RCA ends are pressure fit. You need a custom tool to do it but it's insanely easy to do.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.
Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.
Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener. -
I've made my own, and YES, it was as easy as soldering the wire ends onto the connector ends.
I used these Locking RCA Connectors from Parts Express.
As for the wire, I used a red & black length of 18 AWG. stranded wire, and twisted them together for an unshielded, twisted pair design, i.e. Kimber Kable.
Soldering is the most difficult part. You obviously need to get the connector hot enough for the solder to stick, but if you get it too hot, the plastic insulator that holds the center pin in place can deform.
If you want to practice, go to Radio Shack, get some cheapo solder type RCA connectors, and some wire. Practice away....Bob Mayo, on the keyboards. Bob Mayo.
