New constructioin.

I am going to purchase wall plates for all or most. 5.1 or 6.1 not sure yet. I have seen many wall plates on web. How do the speaker wires connect to the back of the wall plate? Twist on, screw on, clamp on, solder on, etc?

Now, from the componet on shelf next to TV. What is the best method to use to connect the component (s) to the wall plate where the speaker wire terminates?

This question, though, is mainly about banana clips/plugs,connectors. Is a good banana plug the best? I have read much about contact surface area. I have read about corrosion/oxidation of bare wires.

So what is the deal with good/best banana clips/plugs,connectors for speaker wire?

You're going to get 20 different answers as to which is best sonically... I'm not going to touch that, but when you're fumbilng around behind your system with a flashlight in one hand, bananas are your friend. As for the wall terminal, most I've seen have a screw clamp on the back, but you can also find crimp ones.

The crimp type of banana plugs and pins really suck big time, I use the radioshack with the screw on clips type of banana plugs and female plugs since they are a better mechanical connection and are less likely to slip off.

Song - I would suggest setting up for 7.1. Although there is no 7.1 material out there now, you never know what might happen within the next 5 years. Better to be safe and just need a simple hook up rather than getting a new wall plate and needing to run another set of wires in a room with furniture :)
