    Audioreview is a joke.

The 11se is a good, old school Paradigm, predecessor to the Monitor series. I'd get your ears on them, and see what you think.

No, it's not a start, its a joke.

"I love these speakers, they are the very best I've ever heard anywhere, they totally rock out!!"

"These speakers suck, I like my big Cerwin Vegas much better, they totally blow them away. Don't waste your money on this crap!"

well those are peeps opinions if you think it's a joke so be it thats your opinion. He may be able to take something away. If there are 25 reviews and everyone says "it sucks" well I would have to think that product may not be great.

Even if 25 said 'they suck', how many did they sell (10+ years ago)? Lets just say 2000 pair. That would mean 1.2% of the owners have jumped on audioreview and reported they suck, better steer clear (especially at 1/4 of the original retail from 89-93).

Audio review is good for one thing: if a product has a specific problem, you can find it there. Example: I was about to buy a TV, I go on there & check it out. Everyone **** about the remote, and sure enough, the remote sucks. For a product as a whole, audio review is useless, but if a few people all bring up the same issue, you can count on it. Course, for speakers, you kinda gotta take them as a whole.

I rely on audioreview.com very heavily for most of my audio purchases. In fact, I prefer consumer reviews over professional ones.

The key, though, is learning how to filter the BS. For instance, I don't take advice on speaker cables from someone whose only experience is Monster cables. I also look at the type of gear the reviewer has. I also look for consistencies throughout the reviews. Sometimes you find good advice in there. For items with numerous reviews, I only read the strengths and weaknesses. More importantly, I don't believe everything I read and in the end, use my own common sense.

gotta go with Russman on this one.

most of them put glowing reviews up there simply because they own the product. and bad reviews up well- usually for good reason but still a little bit questionable of a review sight.

E-pinions is the same- in fact i believe they have the identical reviews for all products as do Audioreview.com

All I can say is you can never have too much info. So besides the fact we are discussing one site, there are many more, if others don't agree oh well:

    Audioholics
    ecoustics
just type in a google "speaker type" reviews and surf away

I'm fairly sure you leave it at 8 with no problems. Try a search for "amp ohm setting" and see what you come up with to be sure.

If you have a switch, it should be left on 8... just about no matter what. In the 4 ohm position, that switch tells the amp to limit the current for UL/ safety purposes- which will make it sound worse. Now, your amp will run a little hotter and be more likely to overload with the switch in 8 ohm position, but it'll sound better.

All that aside, most amp manufacturers will say in their manuals to treat 6 ohm speakers the same a 8 ohm ones.

Anyone happen to have a pair of these Paradigm Model 11 seMKII ? I saw some used ones and wondered how they would compare with Polk Monitor 10's or LS50's.

    Totally different animals....

I think they would be more balanced than 10s, and be way batter at full range reproduction than LS50s.

Thanks for the tip concealer404, I'm wanting to try some different side surrounds and have heard alot of good things on the Monitor10's here, just not sure if many have tried them as surrounds. Right now using LS50's for side surrounds.

What are your mains? 11ses are big bad tower speakers that i think would be suited well for mains, and gross overkill for side surrounds.

I'm running the SDA/SRS2's for mains. I don't mind having the bigger speakers for surround,I've got a big room. The Paradigms were on CL and I thought I'd see what kind of feedback I could get from CP.

Ah ok... that makes more sense.

Can't hurt... they should outperform the LS50s, especially in sheer power and impact. Well suited to a big room.

And if you don't like them, sell them to me. ;)

Lol, I like the power and impact on surrounds, have found the newer Blurays in True HD and DTS MA have alot more dynamic surround tracks.I'll keep the LS50's,I can use them as back surrounds. So I'm taking it you've heard the Paradigm 11se's concealer?

I've heard the 7se MKiis, but not the 11s. I imagine the 11s would be the same, but more everywhere, especially fatter on the low end.

Well with the large room, I can use the lower end that's for sure. If ya'll have other suggestions I'll consider all!
