All I got to say is oh, BABY is this one sweet amp.

Listening to Norah Jones, I reflexively started humping the Lovely Wendi's leg. I couldn't control myself.

THIS, is what audio is all about, brohams. Air, purity of tone.....you name it.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank RuSsMan for yet ANOTHER solid hookup.

Ima go back and listen some more.

The Lovely Wendi, unamused, looking for the number to a divorce attorney.

    ** Note **

Humping your wife's leg while listening to your rig is not likely to amuse, much less arouse, your significant other.

The Lovely Wendi, BEFORE I started humping her leg......

Chicks DO dig the big 'tubes' as you can see.

(should I be concerned if she is looking to hire a gardener??)

Or 'gardner' if you are a product of the South Cackalackie school system

I'm just jealous, I keep feeding my speaker fix instead of saving up for the ASL.

Bet it does sound sweet. BTW, does the lovely Wendi always have to stick her hands in the amp to get excited?

You'll be needing one of these to go with the pipe.

Troy,Have you used the Jolida in the setup yet? That may, ultimately, be the sweetest combo. Tubed all the way from source to output.

I have no idea, I don't recall seeing one on the market recently to be honest. This particular amp is going to be in one of two places indefinately though so I'm not too concerned.

    Dave,

C'mon by cochise, also got the Music Hall MMF-5 in.

Very sweet amplifier. Are those JJ KT88's in there? I love the way tubes image with more 'air' and space. Sounds so real and natural it's spooky sometimes.

You can't get better tubes than what I gave you for the front end of that amp. NOS RCA Cleartop 6FQ7's, and a 1969 NOS JAN Triple-Mica black plate 5751.

At the price we dealt at, all I could give you power wise was a new matched quad of Valve Art 6550's 'big bottles'. Those are the tubes you might want to spend some money on down the road. Sovtek or JJ will give you a little different tone (may or may not be to your liking), and although the Valve Art's are Chinese, they are still pretty solid performers.

KT88's are a drop in replacement also, and look cool, but I'm not sure they sound any better. The 6550 has mixed reviews in some circles, but I love it. It was DESIGNED to be an audio tube, and I believe it shows in the sound.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Well, I can tell you the CJ sounds as good as it looks. Spent a few hours with BDT and the lovley Wendi listening to an assortment of artists. The upgraded tweets in the big polks combo'ed with the CJ and Sunfire front end.........effortless envelope of sound.
If anything the Polks gained a deeper and even wider sound stage over the old SS amp set up.
Oh, Norah, acoustic instuments (guitar, bass, violin, cello, etc.) are
    there like nobodies business. Palpable,dimensional.....REAL!

At some point, Ima pick up another matched quad of 6550's for the CJ, not sure which route I'll go, however, I'm clearly impressed with it as is.

Always great to have Dave come by, this guy knows his shiite about audio and music. You wanna know what to listen to, ask Dave.

Oh, did I mention that I'm digging the new MMF-5 turntable as well?
