Let my T-Amp see some decent gear... wow...

A couple weeks back for my birthday I got a Sonic Impact T-Amp and received it a week or so ago. It was to be the power for my computer system so I bought some binding posts to go along with it and planned to modifiy it to fit those and pretty much leave it stock from there. After much frustration to get the damn plastic case open (kinda missed 2 of the screws hiding in the battery compartment) I broke it open. I had pretty much decided from there that it wasn't going to be able to go back into that plastic case since I destroyed it in the process of getting into it and my binding posts were too large to fit.

I began crafting a box out of scrap mahogany. I finished the box and threw in the little tiny circuit board and stuck with the stock pot since I won't be using a pre and like the idea of keeping a volume control even though I realize that it will degrade the sq slightly. I had originally bought some rcas to put in but then later left it as the headphone jack because it was only for my computer rig and that's what my sound card outputs.

So now I have this little 2" by 3" by 4" box sitting on huge black rubber feet that I had liying around. The thing is a little **** end heavy because of the binding posts but other than that it's awesome.... today I thought I'd try something different since I'm bored and I hooked it up to my 2 ch rig. At first I had a wierd hum coming out of my sub that I've never heard before. I quickly fixed that by detaching my ht system from the sub. This amp has no problems handling a 4 ohm load and is absolutly amazing. It shames my NAD C352... not because it sounds better (it doesn't :) ) but because it sounds great at nearly a 20th the price. This amp is truly a giant killer. I'm considering ordering a couple more for bi-amping or to share the discovery with friends.

I'll try and have pictures of it as soon as possible. At the moment the digital camera is at my moms house.

If you are looking to get into 2 ch systems and have a small budget I highly recommend that instead of a low end receiver or something pick up one of these.

In comparison to my NAD I find this amp to be a little brighter. I'll listen to it some more and let ya know what else I find.

After hearing a couple different cds it sounds to me that it is a little shallow and the slightest bit harsh but keep in mind this is a $30 usd amp....
