MONITOR 10's ARE NO LONGER FOR SALE

Monitor 5jr:

These are the reason I joined the forum. Purchased these at a thrift store. Tweeter fuses were blown, and the tweeters sounded like crap. Replaced fuses, and replaced the tweeters with the Peerless replacement that was still available through Parts Express at the time. Tweeters alone cost me $60, and I think I paid $15 for the pair of speakers.

These are pretty beat up. Corners are dinged w/ veneer peeling back a little... the one grill post is busted up. BUT, they still sound great and work just fine. They are the version of the 5jr with a PORT, not a passive radiator. Pics to come later tonight. Asking $75 for the pair, slightly negotiable.

Those are some pretty 10s, and a great price. That corner should be an easy fix. Somebody needs to jump on these quick. If you've never had the pleasure of hearing a nice set of 10s guys/gals, you've been missing out on a treat. Anyone considering the new monitor series, you should give these a try first, unless of course you just want something pretty, not to say the 10s are ugly, just retro.

Yep, this is gonna take awhile. These 5jrs are fairly dinged up, but would probably look better with a little brightening.

The pair. The odd light is obviously from a window.

Top/sides. Obvious which parts are dinged/scratched.

Writing on the BOTTOM of one of them. This was written by someone at the thrift store. By that writing, it looks like I should've paid $30 for the pair, but I swear I only remember paying $15.

Thanks for looking. If you have any questions or need any more specific pictures just let me know and I'll do what I can :)

I had a positive transaction with Noah before and he was a great person to deal with; he's been around the forum for a while making positive contributions. Plenty of good pictures here showing the slight imperfections so he's being very honest up front.

Good luck with the sale Noah. Hopefully you'll find a local person for the Mon 10s. Yes they are quite large to ship. I've read stories of those midbass drivers freezing up in transit so the best way to ship is to remove the drivers and ship separately if it comes down to that.

    Thanks for the feedback pjdami.

Yes, I am aware of the problems with the mid-bass drivers freezing/magnets falling off. That's the reason I didn't want to ship them in the first place. That and the prohibitive cost.

If the buyer of the 5jrs wishes to ship, I will be removing the mid-bass drivers and zip-tying them face to face for transport in a separate box.

Again, shipping the cabs alone of the mon 10s would be so expensive... wouldn't be worth it to me, but that's up to the buyer (if one materializes).

I have received an offer for just the components (without the cabs), and am considering it, but would like to keep these speakers together. If no one expresses interest by, say, the middle of next week (wednesday), the 5jr's will be parted out. I'll probably junk the cabs and try to sell the grills (they're in great shape).

Just a bump to say that I am still looking to sell these in one piece. If they don't sell by Wednesday, then they're being parted out. I _do_ have someone in line for the bits and pieces already, but am trying to sell them whole first.
