Cheap SQ sub

My meager system is in my sig if you're not familiar with it. I'm currently looking for an amp that'll do the components and the sub, so I don't have that yet. Anyhoo, I'm looking for a cheap (inexpensive) SQ sub. (Did I say inexpensive?) I don't care much at all about spl; just so I'm getting those lower frequencies when I'm listenin' to Brad Paisley, Michelle Branch, Eric Clapton, the Allman Brothers, etc. I'm definitely wanting sealed since I want SQ instead of SPL (and the cabinet will be smaller). Oh, and I'm also buying at a store around here. My brands are limited to: MTX, Alpine, Memphis, Pioneer, Boston Acoustics, Polk, JLAudio, Sony, Diamond Audio, and Kicker. Of course I'm not interested in Sony or Pioneer (or MTX or Boston Acoustics or Alpine).

What would offer the best of SQ, small footprint, and affordability. (I know that's not parallel....I don't care!)

Thanks!

Does anyone have any links to info/reviews about the Diamond Audio CM3? Seems to be a really nice sub.

    Thanks.

I have the 10" Momo and it's perfect for what I listen to (I rock out).

For what you're listening to, I think the 8" Momo would be perfect. Just steer clear of the Q-Logic boxes unless you can be assured of a great fit in advance.

ID MAX would whoop a Momo but Id have no problem pitting a MM2104 against an IDQ10D4.

Its been a year or two since Ive heard and IDQ but I know these Momos well and think theyre as good as anything on the market at pretty much any price range this side of $400.

sonically, an IDQ pisses all over just about anything else in its class and price range.

however, i have said - long long ago, in a land far far away - that if there was any "musical twin" out there to the old polk DB and DX subwoofers, it was the IDQ.

reference my comments a year or two later when the Baby Momo's came out - "wow, polk finally got their **** in line and came back out with a sub that is 300-ish watts, is focused on a nice bang but more importantly on a great true sound... and doesn't break the bank... finally something like the old gear".

    A + B = C

hence, ya I do truely believe that you are getting very similar (in all good ways) products when you shop between a Baby Momo and an IDQ.

Acoustically, I believe a slight edge goes to the IDQ.
Power handling, a slidge edge goes to the Baby Momo.

Price wise - you can get two Polks for one ID. So unless you've got ID components up front and want to keep the system all one brand, then by all means, do the polks.

Sounds just like every other internet only car audio company that tries to push their product without anyone ever hearing it. What ever happened to eD? Still around yes, but their quality went to ****. What ever happened to Onix? Long gone. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first gen eD's and the Onix subs were nothing short of amazing (a buddy has two prototypes that are damn right impressive) but do you see them doing very well? Neither do I... God bless the internet for information but when did it become the end all/be all?

I would like to save for the upcoming LMT RL-s, eclipse balked and SoundSplinter signed the rights to the LMT tech from TC Sounds,

I agree some companies rise and fall with the internet,

Incriminator Audio, Adire Audio, Stereo Integrity, Resonant Engineering, Ascendant Audio, ZED Audio, and Sound Splinter to name a few are all internet based, and they are all doing well in a small niche market, some use excellent technologies that other big companies don't, and some have the ability to do custom orders, plus it is a lot easier to get good customer service, over the years I have become friends with a bunch of these guys and they are all like you and me, just they put money into starting a little audio company on the side, I like the family "style" atmosphere

(well Adire is going to a dealer set up, and their prices have shot through the roof)

Why? Dont you want to be able to go listen to one before you buy it?

I am a big supporter of local shops. You not only get to listen to the product before you buy it but you usually have experts to talk to and get advice from. The only component Ive ever bought off the net was my MM6's and thats cuz Sounddomain had em for a smoking price!

Also, whens the last time an internet dealer sponsored a car show or competition? Local shops are the ones that foot the bill for those and God bless em for it.

local dealers 99% of the time suck. they are usually overpriced "chop shops" that will butcher your car, rape your wallet, and sell you Boss or Pyle equipment and say its "good stuff".

Ah c'mon now. Ive been to a hundred shops between Chattanooga and Texas and virtually all of them had knowledgable staff with high end brands.

The best one we have here is Radio Clinic. They carry RF, Crossfire, MBQ, Boston, Alpine and Orion and are excellent installers. Plus they support the local competition scene quite a bit and always have a car in there. They get my business because of that very fact right there.

we have "Daryll's Car Audio" and "Custom Radio" both of which are **** shops.

Daryll's carries JL and then a bunch of **** brands.

Custom Radio carries Kicker and a bunch of **** brands like Boss, etc.

if they were multi-brand, then it would mean more to me.

wow, you need to find new shops to go to then. There's very few "chop shops" around here anymore. They all get known and no one goes there. But I'm also midwest...
