Polk Surround??
I have limited knowledge when it comes to speakers and could use a little help (make that a lot of help). And you guys look like you know this stuff forwards and backwards.
I'm looking for a surround system to use with my Yamaha HTR-5860 7.1 receiver. I've read some about Polk and also demo'd a set in Circuit City (RM6800 & 6900) both sounded good.
I have a limited budget of under $1,000 and hoping to get the most bang for my buck. Something that works well with movies and music.
Any recommendations on which set of speakers I should go with?

Just to understand the requirements, that is $1000 for 5 speakers and a sub correct? Do you have any speakers now that could be incorporated into a home theater (even as surrounds?)
Michael
Edit - Also what are your feelings on purchasing used, or are you only interested in new gear? (no big deal either way, just want to understand your requirements) - Do you already have all the speaker wire and other interconnects that you need (digital cable from DVD player to AVR, etc.)?Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
Welcome to the forums, Treta! "Under $1000"
Got an extra $10 bucks and you can get this...
Fronts L&R:
http://www.polkaudio.com/home/products.php?category=4&speaker=351
http://www.stereophile.com/loudspeakerreviews/1004polk/
(can be had for $260/pair most everywhere)
Center:
http://www.polkaudio.com/home/products.php?category=5&speaker=353
(can be had for $200 most everywhere)
Side Surrounds:
http://www.polkaudio.com/home/products.php?category=6&speaker=355
(can be had for $350/pair most everywhere)
Rear Surrounds: Same as Front Pair.
These speakers are available at Tweeter Stores to audition in person and you can get also them pretty cheap online at www.crutchfield.com Not bad for a kickass 7.0 system.
If you need sub advice- just ask. The most popular Subs on this forum seem to be Velodyne and SVS (not in that order)
*EDIT*- if you have $1000 to spend then avoid the RM and Monitor Lines. The rti-series will give you the most bang for your buck.
