I have A polk csi5 center channel and 2 polk monitor 30 fronts. Could I use any of the polk sattelite speakers for this combination for a 7.1 system.

buy some rti6's for the front- and put your monitor 30's in the back.
THe front 3 should be timbrematched. The surrounds not necessarily. -
you could however you will not get a seamless sound. I found a big diff went I bought my rti8's and moved my rti4 to the rears. Big diff. But if $$ is an issue you will do fine.

You first need to determine if a 7.1 system is what you need. Gotta have plenty for it to be worthwhile. A 5.1 system is best for most home applications.
You're off to a good start with your center channel. Buy the best speakers you can afford and don't worry about timbre matching for the rear/surrounds.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub
