This past weekend our local orchestra once again performed Carmina Burana. I enjoy the work but this is also of special interest as it was a performance which inspired the optimization of my two channel system.

The process included plenty of learning about room acoustics. Standard as well as proprietary treatments were designed and constructed for installation in the dedicated room. All of the components have been updated to a level I am content with.

All the time, effort and resources invested into the system have significantly narrowed the gap between the live performance and in-room playback of the work noted above. I have wanted to conduct this type of comparison for some time now and this presented the perfect opportunity I couldn?t resist. I am very relieved to have validation that I am far along the path of having accurate reproduction of recorded media. This was a path I had decided to pursue in the past and it is nice to confirm that I have been able to achieve my goal.

My significant other has been very understanding (?) and accommodating by allowing me to perform these changes throughout the years. Having a dedicated room has also been a huge benefit in realizing these goals.

The one thing I want everyone to walk away with from my experiences is that the room is the most important component of the entire ?system?. Fix everything within your means with this component and you might be surprised with what you already have.

Your statement about the room being the most important componet is absolutely correct. Its a shame that so many put little credence in that statement. They would rather swap out gear, PC's, IC's etc. in a vain attemp to improve their sound. It's akin to trying to nail jello to the wall...good luck with that one. Once you start on the journey of treating your room & you experience the benefits it's a very rewarding trip!!!
