HU install on Mercedes

My friend has a 1987 Mercedes 300E, and he's lookin' for an aftermarket HU. He's picked out and bought a Pioneer DEH-P3700M. The only problem is that the install guy at Best Buy said that he'll need two crossover cables. What in the world are they, and why would he need them? Those cables are $18 each, and my friend's really looking for a cost-effective upgrade from the factory HU.

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated; and they'd be greatly appreciated if they were prompt :D as he's going to get it installed or returned tomorrow.

Thanks!

Could these 'crossover cables' that this guy is referring to possibly be the same thing as wiring harnesses?

    Thanks!

Ive never heard of "crossover cables". My first guess is to be leary.

You could contact Circuit City or another reputable shop and ask if its a straight forward install and see what they say.

There may possibly be some stupid connection that only a Benz would have but I doubt it especially since its an '87 model.

All you need is a power, ignition, ground and speaker wires. RCA's and a remote wire too if youre running an amp.

Bottom line is it sounds like a bunch of **** to me.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the response!

P.S. I just got a job!! :D So it shouldn't be but a few weeks before I'm seriously looking at an amp!! :D:D
