Fxi30's and Fx300i's- Tri-lam or Silk Tweeter?
i know the present fxi3's have the same silk tweeters as do the newer rti-line, but are the older model fx300i 3/4" tweeters and fxi30 1" tweeters Tri-Laminate or Silk? My cousin wants to know if they will timbre match well with his new rti speakers.
I told him that my fx300i's (whether tri-lam or silk: IDK) blend great with my rti4's and csi3.

The fx300i's have the tri lam tweeter and the fxi30's have the silk dome. the newer rti series has a vifa silk dome.
none of the tweeters are matched exactly but i'd bet they all sound pretty similar, especially on surround channels where their job is ambience. the whole purpose of an f/x speaker is to diffuse the rear surround field so it would probably be hard to notice a difference in timbre matching. -
I may be wrong here (and probably am), but I don't think the fx300i had the tri-lams. I believe they were 3/4" silk domes, but were supposedly "matched" to the tri-lams.

Marker is right. The Fx300i's have silk domes. Guess I need to do some readin up.
