old movie remakes

What is with , old TV shows even new ones being put on DVD, old movies being re-dun on the big screen, or re-released on DVD with "tons" of extras. Seems to me the movie companies are just trying to make a couple extra bucks.

It seems to me that there is very little creativity in the movie biz anymore. For the most part, remakes of classics/old movies suck. And movies of TV series are even worse. As far as the current crop is concerned I WILL NOT be watching (or even renting the DVDs) "The Honeymooners", "Dukes of Hazard", "Bewitched", etc...
An in fact I have no real desire to see any of the remakes ... "The Longest Yard", "The Pink Panther", "The Bad News Bears", Charlie and The Chocolate Factory". The only one I might give a cursory look is "War Of The Worlds" only because SciFi often benefits from the improvements in technology...(but I can imagine that the story line will probably be screwed up).
TV shows and remakes are easy, cheap and require no real immagination. Perfect for the vast majority of Hollywood these days."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

True, it seems like the movie companies think, well since we are not making tons at the theater, we might as well re-vamp our old ones and sell them.....again we will add deleted scenes and interviews.....

As long as the gen public keeps flocking to the box office/Blockbuster, there is just no deterent to the current trends. If you really want creative movie makers, you have to give a look across the Atlantic or at the independents. I kinda walk the line on this subject, because some of the remakes I really have enjoyed, while others are ridiculous. I'm with Shack on WOTW. Can't wait to see it on the big screen."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I honestly can't wait for CATCF. First of all, Johnny Depp is absolutely amazing in anything that he's in, and second, it's Tim Burton directing. It should be a dark, gleefully fun film that does justice to the book. But, then again, we all remember what happened last time Burton made a remake...

I think putting the old (and new) TV shows on DVD is a great idea. I bought the first season of Hogan's Heroes and will get everyone thereafter if they make it available - that show is hilarious, IMO.Mains: polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired)

The movie companies are always looking for a sure thing. It much easier to take a crappy show like Dukes of Hazard, write a new crappy script for it, and hope all the old fans will come to see a hot babe in a pair of daisy dukes.
As for old shows on dvd, it's a nother way to capitalize on something no longer on the air (or even still on the air). But am all for it. I already have the original 3 seasons of Family Guy & Spongebob. And my stargate collection is starting to grow.
But I here we will never see WKRP on DVD. Sony wants money for all the music they play. (if you notice on repeats when it's on, they have to do a voice over with some crappy music anytime one of the DJs was talking over the original music they used to play).Denon AVR-3803
