Question about the Jolida JD-100

The Jolida I just bought seems to occassionally have a problem recognizing that there is a disc inserted. This seems to happen when I either leave it in standby or leave it powered on overnight with a CD in it. I'll hit play and the CD will spin forwards and backwards for a few seconds and then display 'No Disc". This happens even if I eject the CD and re-insert it. Powering the player off and on seems to clear the problem. Does anyone else's player do this?

I used to own a Cambridge Audio 500SE CD player that exhibited the traits you're describing. I sent it back for a full refund. I never knew what was causing it.

Same here with no problems like that. It even plays burned copies of my disks.

I hate to ask the very obvious but you have tried different cds right? If so, something is definitely up with it unfortunately.

No man.....it's like I'll play a CD one evening, leave the CDP powered on or in standby for several hours or overnight with the CD still in the transport, come back and press play...it spins for a few seconds and then displays 'No Disc'. I'll power the unit completely off and then back on and everything's fine. It's not a big deal if I was definitely going to keep it, but if I decide to sell it I have to divulge this and it hurts the resale value. The guy I bought it from is like "Oh yeah, that's a well known glitch with the Jolida and everyone knows about it" . That's a bunch of **** because I've Googled the **** out of it and come up with nothing.

I agree. I don't think the seller was totally honest with you.

I briefly tried scouring some of the AA threads here for the problem and didn't find anything like that either.

I agree. If he didn't disclose that information to you beforehand, he's gotta make it right.

Well it does mention this potential problem in the back of the manual. It says that due to the all-metal casing that they are prone to static electricity which evidently can cause this very same problem. Just says to turn it off and back on which is what I've been doing. Also, I've been leaving the cover off to do some tube rolling. I don't know if this is exascerbating the problem or not.. It's really not a big deal though. I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else.
Appreciate all the advice and support though ;)

    Rob,

Ya gotta put the cover back on man. The laser isn't going to be able to read much with other light sources shining in on it.

:o Aww, do I have to? :( It seems to be playing OK and it sure is easier to roll tubes! :(
BTW, I gotta tell you....that was one mother of a cover to remove!
