picked these up yesterday from a guy on Audiogon, 425.00 with lead shot filled sound anchor stands. Got back late from picking them up, but gave them a quick listen. NICE! will have fun with these for a while. hooking them up to the stands tonight.

I gotta say, price was a little high, but they are in PRISTINE condition! the guy i bought these from was meticulous (dare i say anal :D ) about the care of his equipment. when i say pristine, i mean i cant find a flaw on it. If he told me they were brand new 2CE's, i would have probably believed him.

will post pics when i get them on the stands.

the bad news?, i wont be able to use the wires i bought from Dragon recently, the vandersteens only take banana's (DAMN)

oh well, will use the new wire in the theater.

Pop either of those in the Vandy's, and use the screw compression on the ends for your spades.

Cool speakers broham, I think you'll like em.

Excellent suggestion, Russ. I did that with the speaker cables to the ATI 1502 amp on my HT system and it works great.

Nice grab on the speakers, ohskigod. Been wanting to hear some Vandys for a long time.

i will not be taking those socks off anytime soon :p

great smooth laid back sound. silky smooth. Bass digs a little deeper that my SDA 1c's, which really surprised me!

bass is smooth too, well defined. will have some fun with these for quite some time, not that the SDA 1's are going anywhere either. Will keep listening and post a more detailed review later, but i'm sure it wont be much you guys dont allready know.

I will say I listenned with and without the lead shot filled stands, with a pretty big difference in the bass responce. I have the spikes for them, but just didnt attach them yet.

I put the spikes on the stands. minor difference, but noticable. overall, i am very impressed with this speaker. While it does not present as big a soundstage as the SDA 1b's, they are more accurate and refined (for lack of a better phrase). for heavier stuff, like hard rock, i have to give the edge to the SDA's. on the lighter fare however (female vocals, jazz, funk, accoustic instruments etc), the Vandersteens walk away with the title. Still love the SDA 1b's and they arent going anywhere, but i am definitly going to roll with the Vandersteens in the 2 channel rig for quite a while.

I've been listening to music that i listen to often, and can hear details i didnt hear before. I did not expect this from these speakers at all. Its like a whole new listening experience, and I did not even get the friggin Jolida yet!

I'll be havin fun for a while. :D

First, get those recrods VERTICAL you ****.

Second, the Vandy's are the most mute, yet dynamic speaker I have encountered. 6db/oct and ABSOLUTE PHASE in the crossover means HIGH TONE drivers. You can't fake that ****.

The Vandy's shouldn't leave your abode anytime in the near future. I'm SO effed up I can't even express myself, I hope this makes sense manana.

    Cheers,
    Rooster

yeah, i know, I put the vinyl their temporarily while i was hooking stuff up. I know they should not be lying flat like that.

and your right Russ, these are NOT leaving my house any time soon, nor are the Polk SDA 1B's for that matter.

I have to clean up the whole listening area, get equipment i am not using out of there, but i'll do that after i get my Jolida and hook it up.
