XRt12 XM radio drop outs

I have one of the initial batches of the XRt12 XM component tuners ordered directly from Polk when the product was introduced.

Its connected via its Toslink optical digital output port to a Sony digital pre-amp. I've noticed that if the unit is left on continiously, after a few days one of two things will happen:

(1) The audio wil have periodic drop outs. For example, a song can be playing and every few seconds instead of hearing the song, I hear about 1/2 second of a low level hiss. This noise pattern keeps repeating until the unit is turned off (at which time the XRt12 display says its busy and saving program guide data for several seconds before it powers down). Once powered back up, the XRt12 plays normally for a few more days until this repeats.

(2) Alternatively, sometimes the unit after being left on for several days will dump itself into the XM preview channel and act as if it was unsubscribed. Again, turning the unit off and on restores the XRt12 back to normal operation.

Its the above described behavior a known problem with the XRt12, and if so are there any fixes (maybe a firmware upload via the serial port?).

Try posting this in "Troubleshooting" Ken might be able to offer some answers. I don't leave mine powered up, so I don't have this issue.

The problems you are having are not exclusive to Polk, they ocassionally happen to me as well and I'm not using a Polk tuner. It's as if the XM radio receives a signal that switches it to the preview channel. It doesn't happen very often, but it is annoying. The other thing you are describing is temporary signal loss which seems to happen for whatever reason.
