probably not so much without adding an amp. You can't really do those justice without throwing an amp into the mix...

agreed... off an HU, the momos may even sound worse... but if you throw an amp on them, say, the C300.2, they'll come alive like nothing you can imagineIt's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

OK. Youve got a Honda Civic towing a 5000 pound trailer.
If you were to upgrade to a 10,000 pound trailer would you notice a difference?
Kinda the same thing. Do it right. Get an amp.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Okay, that analogy made sense only after significant thought, so perhaps a better one is your oft-used "Imagine taking the engine out of the civic you have now and sticking it in a ford gt... same guts, in a different car, it ain't gonna make a difference... now, put the gt motor in, and you can nearly match the enzo ferrari..."It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

No, my analogy made perfect sense.
Hes trying to push DB speakers with an underpowered head unit (a puny Civic trying to tow a heavy trailer).
Now hes wanting to upgrade to a much heavier duty speaker which will take more power to perform well but keep the same underpowered head unit (the same puny Civic but now trying to pull an even heavier load).
So there. Im the analogy master!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

This head unit is a high powered head unit the alpine 9833 from last year 26 watts rms per channel. I mean it sounds damn good now on my 4x6 momo plates and polk dbs 6.5. I just wanted to have all momo products in my truck. Im going to put that alpine 4 channel amp in soon its the 40 watts rms x4 do you think the momo 6.5 will sound ok on 40 watts?Testing

Yeah, I know thats the cool new term these days. "High Power" head units. Woopee. It still only makes abot 10-12 watts real world.
Its a matter of size. Head units can only be so big or they wont fit. How many 100 watt amps do you see out there that are the size of a head unit? None. And thats not even considering only about half the h/u's size is the amp.
That Alpine is a spunky little amp. I had one myself for over a year. Worked and sounded fine. Its just not quite as stout as you could get for $200.
This MTX is a much, much stouter amp than the Alpine and since its on clearance you can get it for the same price from an authorized dealer. Youd like it much better.
This Phoenix Gold is also a hoss. And its also on clearance so you get it for a song.
This Pioneer isnt as ballsy as the MTX or Phoenix Gold but its got a little more grunt than the Alpine and for only $140.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Hey my other car is a Civic (2000 EX).
Well, at least I have a 96 Maxima with some mods .
Cooldude:
Kicker still makes good amps if you want to give them a try. Not terribly expensive either.
This one is close in power to my old school Kicker (the ZX460 puts out a little more).

Okay yesterday i went to best buy and bought that little 4 channel alpine amp, which i thought was a pretty good deal because i got 15 % off payed 175.00 for it. Anyways i went to my shop to install it. I mounted it on my back wall so it will run cool. I finished installing the amp last night but only got the right side speakers hooked up, run out of time so i just left my cd player hooked up to the left speakers until i can finish it this week. All i can say is theres no comparsion man these speakers scream on this amp. This is a good amp for the money. I can't wait until i finish the install it will probally run me out of it.Testing
